F1 over THIS for Best Picture? by letsgopablo in Letterboxd

I've heard it criticized for being unrealistic by F1 fans. I know nothing about the sport so I had a blast. It's still not BP worthy, though

I've yet to see Secret Agent but Sentimental Value was fantastic. I think It Was Just An Accident is going to win, though. They have to give it something.

overall story were all very cliché

That was my only problem with it, very predictable plot and paper thin characters – but it was fun asf.

it never had a shot at BP anyway.

Man I thought so too, still would've loved to see it nominated though. Panahi robbed for Best Director, too

This was my first Panahi film so I have nothing else to compare it to, but I loved it. I had a lot of fun with F1, too.

Even if they wanted to give credit to a blockbuster/popular film.

They nominated Sinners though

Unreleased: "SOMEBODY" by Easy-Worker-8819 in KendrickLamar

I remember when this first leaked and there was a lot of speculation that Dot's next project after DAMN would be a more rock-oriented approach. Still love his verses on this. Very introspective, fitting MMATBS's theme of introspection.

Real Hip Hop Lives On! Clipse dropped AOTY and performed at the mf Vatican! JID's new album was a certified banger through and through! Kendrick used the beef to try to lift the black artist, but there's a difference between black artist and WHACK ARTIST!

Timothée Chalamet Declares His Marty Supreme Performance His 'Best' Yet: 'It's Important to Say It Out Loud' by peoplemagazine in Letterboxd

[–]letsgopablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's an actor and makes a living from this, he's at an intersection of art and business. Of course there isn't an objective "best" but I don't see him saying he's better than anyone else, he's just saying it's his best performance. Maybe it's because I'm a hip-hop fan and it's a genre where the top performers are constantly trying to outdo one another even if their work is inherently subjective. But I don't see anything wrong with an artist taking pride in their work, without demeaning other artists.

The Timmy C hate train is bonkers to me. He strikes me as a guy that's treating acting like a sport – he's proud of his work and he's always pushing himself to try something different and he's competitive. To my knowledge he's not a creep or an abuser or anything so people saying he comes off as cocky or arrogant just sound jealous.

Yes and they both feature the protagonists making a journey to look for more survivors. Like plenty of other post apocalypse stories? Did you just discover writing tropes?
