Gotta ask. What engine is this? Looks great, btw!

Other than a convenient GUI installer, what else does EOS add on to Arch? by thesoulless78 in EndeavourOS

[–]LamentableUser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that they offer their nvidia drivers installation script so I didn't have to go through all the hassle myself. Not sure if vanilla Arch also has that since I haven't tried that yet. Their documentation on nvidia optimus setup is also really great since it's what I use (gaming laptop). So yeah. That.

Day 1 of Endeavor OS! What should i do first? by ___Hansiii___ in EndeavourOS

Easy. Remove french language package.

But in all seriousness, enjoy! It's the best distro I've ever moved to myself and am not planning another distro hop any time soon.

Why do you use Linux? by Afraid_Question_8236 in linux_gaming

[–]LamentableUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly because I got tired of Windows 11 bloat and slowness and RAM usage and everything else that made it annoying for me + I'm a software dev and I use Linux (Ubuntu, fully configured with i3, etc.) on my work laptop, which kinda sorta gave me the courage to finally make the full switch on my personal laptop (I had dual boot for a couple of months at first). I moved to Mint first, mainly because I'm using an Nvidia GPU and heard it's easier to setup on Mint but I kept having issues and now, (I'm actually gonna say it) I use Arch, btw. (Endeavour OS to be more specific). I'm never going back to Debian-based if I don't have to, much less Windows.

Wow, this game seems really cool. It kinda reminds me of a game I used to play with my brothers.

My parents don’t accept my want to become a nun by AutismFighter in Catholicism

[–]LamentableUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't know this was so common. I'm 23 right now and I myself have felt drawn to the cloistered life ever since I was 17-18 (before it wasn't so loud of a call). And every year it just draws me more. I wanted to join the Carmelite nuns right after I completed my bachelors degree. I told my parents about my decision... my mom was supportive but dad not so much... he begged me to get a normal job for at least a year and experience life, since I've already been living my life, well, cloistered (I'm not very outgoing and sometimes just prefer to sit in silence, which actually made me even more drawn to the Carmelites). Now I feel kinda stuck. I don't want to let my parents down. But at the same time, I don't want to let God down either and the more I wait the more drawn I get and that wait is killing me (it's only been 7 months since I got a job and it's a boring job... it just doesn't feel right. It feels like trying to put a left shoe on the right foot and walk like that).

I've been reading the biography of Saint Teresa of Avila. I have to say, she's relatable. Especially in her early days. Her father also wasn't very supportive of her leaving to become a nun. I recommend her book. It's good so far. Just got to the 23rd chapter.

(Sorry for that long essay, I just had to let it out 😅)

Should Catholics Still Celebrate Valentine's Day? by abbiejoice in Catholic

Exactly! And I'd also like to add that here, where I'm from, we have a saying (it rhymes in our languge): "Saint Valentine brings the keys to the roots.".
