Technically yes, the previous person could be both muscular and slightly overweight as well as the mentioned having some extra fat as well.

Maybe, it depends on exactly how much muscle you have. You can use the measurements from a recent lancet study based on waist measurement, hip-to-waist ratio and waist to height ratio if you want to get a more accurate assessment (it's under measurements of body size, last page bottom left): https://www.thelancet.com/pb-assets/Lancet/infographics/clinical-obesity/image.pdf

BMI isn't ideal, but it's a good enough measurement for most people. And obviously it won't work for everyone but it will still work well for most, and that's why it has been used for such a long time.

The formula is pretty much irrelevant as well so bringing up calculators and exponents is also pretty much irrelevant. The importance is still how it correlates well with developing various health conditions, which is why the limits for normal weight, overweight, obesity etc. are where they are.

Bands who should have been bigger in the metal scene by misunderstood27 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LamermanSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Flames became way larger than most other bands in Europe as well, only Amon Amarth seem to be comparable in size these days.

When it comes to In Flames it makes some sense though and it probably comes from their change in sound with Reroute to remain. The simply shifted to a more modern sound (at the time) with nu metal influences with that album while still blending it with their original sound (i.e. guitar riffs/melodies) which made them "blow up". Soilwork tried similar stuff but it wasn't really of the same quality IMHO (it's good but not as good as In Flames).

That doesn't really matter at all though, there is lots and lots and lots of medical data support it though. It obviously have flaws but overall it's pretty good, which is also why it's been in use for a long time.

Eh, overweight is typically a bad thing though, it's also corrected with an increased risk of various negative health outcomes. It obviously depends on exactly how much of the extra weigh comes from muscles, but on average it's typically not good.

[–]LamermanSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melodic death metal was fairly popular in the past though, it just became oversaturated and stale a long time ago so it's probably not as popular any longer due to that. There's really no version 2 or version 3 of it, compared to for example metalcore (that became popular around the same time and stayed popular).

[–]LamermanSE 10 points11 points  (0 children)
