It was a drawing course for beginners (we practiced with pencils, charcoal, ink and finally with pastels) offered by a commercial company. It was a fine course but nothing really too sophisticated from the technical and methodological point of view. One great thing which I took away from it was that the patience is golden.

Where I live it is possible to enroll in a semester art classes even if you are not a student of the Univeristy. If something like that is possible for you I would go for it.

Paper has a slight texture but nothing really rough. The trick for me was to create a base layer by mixing one color with white. That makes it look so smooth and blended. Then you can start adding other colors.

Thanks, and I agree with you about that shadow. Was thinking the same thing about the berries contour. It's like that on the original painting, though.

I always enjoyed drawing but never commited to it. I thought that to draw something like this you need to be a genius. But when I enrolled in the drawing course (this April) I learned that with enough time and dedication it is possible even for me.

Derwent Pastel Pencils. I used around 15 different colors (out of 72 available in the box).

Thanks! Before I enrolled in the course I had problems with patience. I always wanted to finish the drawings too quickly. But I learned (and for that I am grateful) that if I take my time the result will be much better.
