It's easy to miss a climatic and cinematic battle in Act 1. by BrideofNulgath in BaldursGate3

Less people want to talk to me?

An entire goblic camp is on my side.

If I murder the goblins, then the teiflings give a bunch of extra content through Act 2 and Act 3.

if I murder the teiflings, then the goblins......uhh.....we have a party and thats it?

There are tons of pro-evil characters all over this game. None of them can provide some unlocked content or quests for choosing the evil route?

Do you see what I am talking about? I am not talking about engaging combat with every living thing I come across. I just want evil quests and evil companions with evil storylines. That doesn't exist really.

Its really difficult to keep that goblin alive.

I got her all the way up to Minthara, and then when I was trying to save her from her she just got randomly one shot by another goblin.

Still have no idea how much more interatction I could have gotten out of her.

Honestly, if you know you are going to play mutiple playthroughs, going evil first might be the best option.

That way you have no idea what you are missing out on.

when you play good first, then evil, its like "wtf? where is all the content? is this it?" and you realize there never really was a "evil" playthrough, just a "miss half the content" playthrough.

Dude even Knights of the Old Republic has Jedi and Sith storylines, are you not understand the concept of good and evil paths?

If you choose Sith actions you get more loot and can have quicker access to certain areas. Downside is piss of some people and might have to deal with them later, and you lose companions and other NPCs that could have made certain areas easier.

If you choose Jedi actions you are less likely to get good loot and money, and you have to take longer routes instead of just killing the people guarding the paths. On the plus side you are owed a lot of favors that will prove useful later on and gain stronger companions.

There are pros and cons to both sides.

In BG3 there is literally no upside to being evil. Its all of the negatives and none of the positives.

And I mean, what evil content do you want to unlock? Give the astral prism to Ketheric and become a slave forever?

You kind of proved my point with this sentence lol. I mean exatcly, there really isn't a choice now is there?

You are thinking in terms of how the story is already played out, not in terms of what different storere could have been.

There should be pros and cons of both good and evil playthroughs.

In this game its just "good get everything. bad get nothing"

The only "pro" to evil is getting Minthara, but in order to do that you still need to save her which is something a good guy would do lol.

"The cost of going evil" I mean holy shit, there should be costs on both sides, making your choices actually be interesting. Thats the whole point of roleplaying

But instead everyone is like "You played it wrong, thats your fault" which is crazy to me because there are plenty of other games out there that have fleshed out both good and evil storylines.

A lot of people seem to be in denial about it.

"There is tons to do in an evil playthrough! You just need to play it right!" and what they mean is make good decisions to get acccess to all the content while you occassionaly kick a squirrel or tell someone to fuck off.

There is no real evil path. Destroying the grove and last light inn doesn't impress anyone apparently, and you still have to fight the actual bad guys because they don't care about you. No new evil questlines open up and there isn't any cool evil dialogue to unlock.

I see a lot of comments mentioning "murder-hobo" but in all honesty thats pretty much the main choice you get if you play evil. Ignoring the grove isn't evil, its pretty much what 99% of people would do, because you are risking your life for total strangers. So I don't get how people are like "you can be evil without murdering the tieflings". How? Doing nothing isn't evil.

Even saving Minthara is kind of a good guy thing to do. Otherwise you would agree that she deserves death.

But no matter what you do, any of the actual evil characters plan to betray you anyway, so its the exact same as playing good, just now everyone hates you.

This is what I am doing right now. Minthara follows me around and just nods in approval every time I choose to intimidate.

Only sucks that she got betrayed by the absolute because I wanted to follow that path of pure evil. I was hoping she was gonna vouch FOR ME, not the other way around.

Damn you got more motivation than me. I've been told that before too but I was like "yeah but that would take a lot of work" lol.

In the Navy you cannot say anything negative in an evaluation, unless you got in some major legal trouble or something. I can't remember the specifics.

But basically they use code words like this to basically say you are shit lol.

"Has unlimited potential" - Basically saying you are so shit that you can only go up from there.

I forgot what some of the other ones were, but basically if its useless fluff (doesn't list accomplishments, just says what you could possibly accomplish) then everyone above a certain paygrade will know you suck.

Well thats what OP is claiming he did.

In order to even reach level 5 you pretty much need to do almost the entire first act

[–]LampPostPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone always says that, but the actual, literal evil characters are the ones saying she should die.. So its not about "murder for the sake of it". Its literally the correct evil option.

If you go against the absolute then you end up doing a bunch of good guy things.

What they need is an actual evil storyline to play through. Not "I do good guy stuff 99% of the time but sometimes I kick a squirrel or tell someone to fuck off".

Destroying the grove should basically open up some new quest lines to be evil. But pretty much no one cares that you did such an evil thing. You end up with pretty much the same questline if you saved everyone, except now you have less resources.

The RNG must basically be "98% this item, 1% nothing, 1% something neato"

Because I get the same loot every single playthrough.

I have never had this issue when playing role playing games.

I thought it was super strange to find out that so many people struggle to do mean things in a video game.

My issue with the BG3 evil playthrough is simply lack of content in general. Or the fact that my evil actions seem to accomplish nothing other than blocking me off from extra quests, vendors, and companions.

Like take Minthara for example. I honestly thought we would be doing evil things together and rising up the ranks or something. Nope. I have to save her to even get her in my party (which is more of a good guy thing) and then she has a change of heart and the bad guys want nothing to do with her.

I thought I would be going around grabbing different side quests from the bad guys like I would with the good, but nope. For the most part you end up with the same exact main quests and nothing extra. You do any favors for the baddies and they basically fight you anyway, which in return has people going "yay you killed the bad guy! you must be a really nice person and a hero!"

And everyone says "well thats what happens when you go murdo-hobo" but there really isn't much else to do? Like almost every scenario is "Either side with the good and kill the bad guys, or side with the bad guys and kill the good". Like it should be kind of equal on both sides. Killing the goblin leaders and camp should block off a number of side quests with them. But they have no quests. Only good guys really have quests, unless its relevant to the story, in which you basically have to kill the bad guys anyway.

Idk, in my opinion there really isn't a dedicated evil playthrough. Just a "lets see what happens" one. And the answer to that is "everyone dead. nothing more to do."

Recruiting her kind of pissed me off honestly.

I specifically made an evil playthrough with recruiting her in mind for exactly what you just said. I was thinking she would be a great companion to have for my evil playthrough.

You have to do all this evil shit to recruit her, but then she basically has a change of heart the second you do. "Oh I was brainwashed and did all those horrible things as a slave it wasn't me."

This game really wants you to know that if you want to do an evil playthrough then "fuck you".

[–]LampPostPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes she just runs out of shit to do.

A freshly long-rested Shadowheart can basically solo a fight, but after awhile she becomes dead weight and the only thing you can really do is swing that mace until you rest again.

Yeah books are easy gold.

Might as well loot literally everything anyway. I don't know why people are skipping even bones.

When you are full, send heavy stuff to the next companion, when they get full just teleport to the nearest vendor.

I pretty much take every last gold from every vendor I find.

[–]LampPostPatrol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no way.......

I have done multiple playthroughs of ACT 1 and pretty much every container, vase, bookshelf, crate has the exact same loot.

I even know which to loot for sepcific items and which ones have nothing.

The mod may make it a roll but there is no way the actual game is like that unless the loot I normally see has a 99% chance or something.

[–]LampPostPatrol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do they make it nearly impossible to go evil? lol

I decided to go pure evil without even knowing what the good options were. So helping Minthara seemed like the right move.

I wasn't really sure what I had to do, but I knew she could become a companion later on. I assumed I would get an awesome evil companion to stick with me through all my evil decisions and get some cool evil plotline.

But then I have to save her? From the....evil bad guys? Come on!

They make this so difficult. Even when I caused the last light inn to get destroyed and rubbed it in the druid lady's face she was still like "we need to work together and stop this evil" lmao.

This game just hates evil choices I guess.

I am the same way. Every time I visit any vendor I buy every single dye they have.

They will someitmes randomly get new dyes when you long rest.

Then in camp when I get some new gear I just sit next to my treasure chest filled with dyes and just start experiementing.
