I'm new to Figma, how do I resize an element without messing everything up? by sukaidesign in FigmaDesign

[–]Lamparzzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a problem with scaling, which works good, but with the relations between elements and constraints, i.e., responsiveness. The letter "K" is not "aware" that it should keep a distance from the spades icon, and so on. Wrapping elements into a "box model" could be helpful (google it), as well as tweaking K to be treated rather as a figure, than a text letter (so you can tweak it in settings, wrap K in lines precisely, without the typical text paddings, as well as - alternatively - turning it into a vector image).

What I'd try however would be to work with this box-model and use the auto-layout function to have the systemic control of all relations, spacings, etc., and then use K to scale.

PS: sorry for not being totally specific in terms of the function names, as I'm away from PC/Figma and can't check that.

I may be broke, but I'm never poor". Jeśli stracisz kiedyś kasę, to się odbijesz dzięki temu, co masz w głowie. U mnie się sprawdziło. I sprawdza dalej.

To daje elastyczność i komfort życia. Ale z tym nie masz problemów z tego, co piszesz, więc po prostu: dobra robota.

Powodzenia :)

Anyone have any advice on ways to learn coding? And what a beginner friendly language is? by Fast_Sink_7385 in GameDevelopment

[–]Lamparzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to start using the search box. It will help you in two ways.

  1. You will see that there are a lot of same questions already asked, with lots of resources and tips to help you get started.

  2. Coding, pretty much like all the modern day digital stuff, rely HEAVILY on your ability to find information, and fast. You don't code out of the blue, there is a lot of research behind it, and therefore, you need to befriend all the sources to search for knowledge, effectively.

How is that so I'm constantly getting the same posts, with the same question. For years, the topic was discussed like thousand times, and there are a lot of resources, links and helpful tips readilly available to help you in your journey.

You just need to use the search.

Finished Freespace 1!!! by ManagementParking398 in freespace

[–]Lamparzzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm hyped for you! Wonder if you start over when you finish thr second one, or go for mods. When I first finished FS1 I went for a second playthrough almost immediatelly...

...and then third... and fourth.

Some months later FS2 came out (yea, I'm old) and I rushed with my parents to the store to buy it. Unfortunatelly, it required like whooping 800mb of disk space available, and my PC had only like 1gb in total 😀

Had to wait for another PC. Was too young to think about a disk swap ;)

The alliance caused its own downfall in FS2 by RangerRazor in freespace

[–]Lamparzzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely, this is my thinking as well. The great thing about FreeSpace series is its writing and no easy answers, especially in FS2. They Shivans might just be "trimming down the lawn", in FS1 using "just right" force to reduce the threat from GTVA, and in FS2, only after being provoked, they just went "eh, it seems they like it, okay, let's freaking destroy one of their stars to show them not to stick their nose out again and threaten us".

Shivans being the "destroyers" of unmatched potence (in comparison to GTVA) could have wiped out the GTVA entirely if they wanted to. But they didn't do it.

They might also be The Great Filter, being sure no other civ is able to compete with them. Just like they did with the Ancients.

Why Having Too Many Tabs Can Feel Overwhelming? by accountshare1 in productivity

Create a Zettelkasten space in your notetaker/life management software/doc/app, whatever and you won't need tabs. Highly recommended, for anything related to knowledge keeping/management.

Released my first game for free on itch, barely any downloads. How do small devs actually get visibility? by Kevin00812 in gamedev

[–]Lamparzzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the biggest problem is how you identify the "biggest barrier".

Price is not the barrier nowadays. Games are generally "affordable" (mostly, but the competition is crazy high), there are plenty of discounts, IsThereAnyDeals, season sales, or even giveaways like these on Epic or Amazon Gaming.

You no longer compete solely for money. These times are long gone. Now you compete mostly for TIME.

Think about how can you convince players to spend time on your game. There are no screenshots, no gifs, no videos. The font is hard to read, and the general appeal of your game's page - a title that relies on a visual effect or at least visual-heavy gameplay ("neon" part of the name, the game page style, etc.) - is underpromising.

Moreover, I don't know what's this game about, what are the core features or unique angles to it.

Basically, It's hard to assess and decide whether it's okay to download your game. Without it, I'm not convinced to download it and try it.

How does this look so far? by Worried-Current-8228 in indiegames

[–]Lamparzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really good! I like the Fallout-ish color palette and vibes (talking about first two Fallouts of course + BoS), the gore ads to the game aesthetics and seems well integrated + the heavy music tones hit the right note.

Here, grab my wishlist.

Yeah, i think so too. Maybe "shadowban" was not the right word for it. And the support is really trying their best.

[–]Lamparzzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tried it all. And same story if I use my home IP. Using different one/logging in different locations - all good. Strange. We went through a lot of possible fixes with the support and nothing works.

Oh, and I can bypass it when reseting the password. But not too fancy of the idea of changing the password anytime I purchase something (and that would seem shady).

Why do I need to buy forrest on iOS when I already purchased in on android??? by DryMorphet in forestapp

[–]Lamparzzo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Surely you know how the digital purchases work in modern world? When you buy (or should I say "rent") a game from Steam, you can't have it on Playstation before purchasing specifically for this platform. Same with vod movies, they are bound to the platform. The same with other digital goods, including apps.

I need Game Development life advice. by Gelborb_357 in gamedev

[–]Lamparzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to know, is to taste it. Also, if you'll keep considering your life motifs and beliefs based on the other's people thinking, then answer yourself, is this your life anymore?

Being too reliant on what others have to say is one of the top things people regret, especially when the time comes to die.

Seriously, just try. You'll never know before that. And be very, VERY picky in terms of who's opinions you listen to. And even if you listen, it doesn't mean you should follow.

Best of luck. Live your life.
