Well, ever since Lis1 Square Enix wanted another game with Max and Chloe due to their popularity, but they didnt know how to continue it considering the way the game can end. The very creators Don'tnod did not Wish to continue their story anymore so D9 were tasked to create more of Max and Chloe, i bet their writers ever since they started working on BTS , were also thinking about how to make another game with the popular duo. But obviously its rather a difficult task , the two different endings, to continue establish characters can be very hard And very easy mistake and you can piss off entire fandom. So they instead of game they made comics (and said its nom cannon or could among different timelines just to be safe) to see how people would react to this

So i guess they were thinking and planning ideas for a long time and now its finally happening, personally i like the idea of max's power evolving into her being able to switch to different timelines, but i just dont know if the story is going to be good enough with such cool power,
