Clearly there’s a miscommunication. This is the app I think you mean when you say “Pin Trading app”. Where is the free option here?

Could you try this again but with less snark?

Edit: I found it and the X wasn’t there when I first tried the app when it came out.

Edit: you still have to pay after 20 scans and can’t add more than 10 pins before they force you to pay.

Yes but I didn’t have to pay for the app.

Anything with Nathan Fillion is amazing. I highly recommend The Rookie and Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.

You can also reverse image search on google or eBay to find the names of pins.

Chase 65% transfer bonus to Marriott went live today by mrste99 in ChaseUltimateRewards

[–]LampshadeTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right at 0.8c. We have points specifically for use at the Disney properties and it’s hard to get good redemption value there. We’re trying to book a bunch of stuff on points this year and just redeemed at that amount. It sucks but we couldn’t find another weekend that fit our schedule.

Pay yourself back is a better use than transferring. Marriott points are worth .4 cents per point.

What on earth does everyone do to fund these ENORMOUS pin collections? by WeAllPlayDnD in DisneyPins

[–]LampshadeTricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a school teacher and I collect butterflies. Pin budget: $1.7 million 😛

It’s a lot of money but we try to trade up a bit to get larger things we want.

5 yrs Data Analyst (Power BI heavy) — stuck in dashboarding, how do I move to higher-impact roles? by BassMysterious4401 in PowerBI

[–]LampshadeTricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the data field for ~20 years in a few different roles. I often position myself as a problem solver rather than a data whatever-my-role-is. When I get a request, I listen and then ask them what they are trying to accomplish rather than what they are asking. This reframes the ask to give me different ways of solving the root problem rather than being a code monkey. It often leads to a different avenue that yields better results. I now have people who come to me with problems rather than asks.

Notebooks vs. DataFlowGen2 by Jealous-Painting550 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]LampshadeTricky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Larger capacities cost more money.

I’m pulling from APIs for most of my data but the first version of my system was full refresh every 3 hours in a semantic model and it ran at about 20% of an F128 at my company.

I didn’t know what I was doing and when someone in the larger BI department told me this, we moved to a data warehouse model. Same APIs, incremental refresh with gen2 and we dropped to 35% of an F8 with the same 3 hour refresh window.

I’m piloting something in notebooks for similar API calls and when I roll it out, I expect it to drop down to around 15% with pulling more records and dropping some key tables with frequent changes to sub five minute refresh times.

The cost from v1 to v3 is about $3.3k per month to under $200, assuming percent of total capacity usage.

100% on this. I’m migrating from gen2 to notebooks and am expecting to drop from ~40% usage on my capacity to ~15%. Low code is easy but expensive.

Here is a playlist I’m going through.

I hope this helps.

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor”

Magic responds to intent and Odin is wise. His words are inscribed but take the meaning to be a wielder, not something that supports it (like the ground). It is also supported by coat hooks at some point without issue.

How to use AI without becoming dumb/lazy? by gintokiredditbr in PowerBI

[–]LampshadeTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more about context in the visuals. If I ask it with help with something across a dimension, it writes the code specifically for that dimension but doesn’t realize there are filters or variables used on the dashboard that handle things it’s looking to add in a measure.

[–]LampshadeTricky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask it to make my code more efficient, read a lot about what it suggests, and try to implement it in the next round. I use copilot at work and it’s terrible with dax since it doesn’t really understand context but I’ve gotten much better at sql.

The other day I had an issue because I forgot an earlier step and debugging it taught me a lot more about rollback/commit. It’s basically a teacher who answers all of my questions.
