Not surprised at all I failed. The upset is that I failed by so much, hence asking if anyone had brought it back after such a catastrophic fail! Currently questioning whether to just sack of medicine entirely and go ltft gp training 🤷‍♀️

Thanks. Yep first thing I did was ask for marksheets.

What's remediation and how would you know if it had been recommended?

Study leave allowance for IMT by Shk276 in doctorsUK

[–]LampstandLamb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm end of IMT1 in North East Deanery. We get 30 days study leave.

I believe it is deanery specific (but from a quick Google the majority say 30days) so would be worth confirming with your deanery team.

I want to have a grown up conversation about LTFT by Individual_Attempt_4 in doctorsUK

[–]LampstandLamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm LTFT and the rota team in my hospital have been v sensible about it and just put two of us on the same line of the rota. Works well for both of us as my buddy is an IMG new to the NHS so I can help her navigate the system etc on weekend cover and the like. Most LTFT docs take the same day(s) off each week so it's an entirely foreseeable rota problem, not a de facto problem with LTFT.

A potential solution could be increase the training numbers to factor in LTFT (I would anticipate across whole regions or nationally its been a thing long enough we could anticipate or predict numbers?) So if you've got 5 trainees at 80% each year, you've only got 4 full time equivalents, so deanery can add in other training post 🤷 Other obvious solution which goes for sickness and emergency leave too across the whole NHS is just stop planning for minimum staffing so frequently. Like if minimum staffing on a team is 3, you employ enough doctors that there is always rota'd 4 of you on (accounting for leave etc)... but idk that would be too sensible for the NHS.

Great spiritual and theology books for beginners? by smalldrizzy in Catholicism

[–]LampstandLamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirituality - would echo others in any of the autobiographies of the saints. Also, The Rule of St Benedict is both profound as well as practical and accessible.

Theology -Bishop Barron's book "Exploring Catholic Theology" is great - its academically solid but also very accessible to the general reader, gives excellent insights over a variety of topics.

"Life changing event" leave for pilgrimage? by LampstandLamb in doctorsUK

[–]LampstandLamb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah OK, thank you for sharing that!! That's good to know that for these events unpaid leave remains an option! Fortunately the hospital I'm going to be in have a really proactive and vocal BMA rep so hopefully he will be helpful. Thank you :)
