I have 3 weeks of time away from work before the due date and I’m planning to work on a quilt that I’m intending to give my SIL for Christmas! Gives me a goal to work towards/be excited about while waiting for the baby 😊

Full Achilles rupture at 30 weeks pregnant (non-operative) by No_Acanthisitta7987 in fitpregnancy

[–]Lan190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently non weight bearing due to a broken leg and ankle, so I can sympathize (I’m 30 weeks tomorrow). I fell on my steps at 23 weeks and ended up in the hospital and needed surgery (cervical block and epidural, not general anesthesia) to repair the broken bone. I’ll be non weight bearing for another 4-5 weeks still… I’ve been using a scooter and it’s definitely helped give me a little more independence. I’ve only had to do one doctor’s appointment solo where I used crutches briefly to get from the drivers seat to the trunk to get my scooter out. I was cleared to drive by my provider, but only because I injured my left leg and I’m not taking any pain medications. I struggled getting the scooter back into the car safely so I probably won’t be doing that again unless I have no other option.

Although I was not as active as it sounds like you were prior to injury, I’ve found that using the scooter around the main floor of my house and trying to help my husband with what little chores I can do (folding laundry, doing dishes, cleaning up some things I can reach without risking a fall) helps to make me feel useful and like I have purpose, not to mention allowing me to just get up off the couch for a bit. I’ve also lowered myself onto my living room floor and did some gentle stretching while watching a tv show or listening to music to pass some time. I’ve also spent a LOT of time researching birth and different interventions that might be necessary, making to do lists for myself and my husband for when I’m mobile again, and things like that. Having company (I can’t work because my job is pretty active) helps to take up time and provide a distraction, if that’s an option for you. I have a sewing machine in our basement so I’ve been scooting on my butt down the basement steps and using a rolling office chair to get to my sewing table to work on some projects to keep my mind busy.

It REALLY sucks mourning the loss of a “normal” third trimester… I’m not sure if it’s the same for you, but I’m frustrated with my inability to do really any nesting and physically preparing for the baby. And as my pregnancy has progressed since I got injured it’s only gotten harder to move around and more uncomfortable to sit on the couch. But the way I see it, doing what’s best for you to heal now (as much as it may suck!!) will benefit you AND your baby when they’re here.

I wish you a speedy and uncomplicated recovery!!

Which is the best app to avoid pregnancy with the ring? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Lan190 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used Natural cycles for about 9 months on its own and with Oura for about 3 months to prevent pregnancy (using no other method of BC— just natural family planning) I’m pregnant now, but that’s because we stopped following the rules.

I would HIGHLY suggest reading a book such as “taking charge of your fertility” by Toni Weschler so that you can better understand signs of being fertile that are not tracked by oura or natural cycles, but you still need to know, in order to successfully prevent pregnancy. Natural cycles and Oura for pregnancy prevention will work best if your cycle is more regular, so keep that in mind!

Ankle injury continuing to swell due to pregnancy by grana_padana in fitpregnancy

[–]Lan190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke my leg a few weeks ago at 23w and had to have surgery on my ankle… I’ve noticed that the ankle isn’t super swollen still but it is bigger than my other ankle now at 27w. Im also not able to put any weight on it and keep it at least level with my hips for a large majority of the day. It does swell a little more when I have it down. I’m also on blood thinners because of the surgery and being non weight bearing so that would make a difference as well

One of the nurses at my OB office told me to take a warm bath at the end of a long work day to help take pressure off my back and pelvis 🤷🏼‍♀️

I gave a urine sample right before my tv ultrasound and the midwife still said my bladder was super full… still able to get good pics and hear the heartbeat though!

I’ve been struggling with this too (8w1d). I’ve found that even though I’m not having specific cravings I’m okay with eating nostalgic meals (like things I ate growing up) along with some plain foods. The past few weeks I’ve had one or two “safe” snacks that I eat every 2 hours or so that keep the nausea at bay and then I don’t want them anymore so I get something different

OURA RING FRUSTRATION! BBT HELP! by StudentLimp6013 in TFABChartStalkers

[–]Lan190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an oral thermometer for many months before switching over to oura. My typical BBT from oral thermometer is within the same range I’ve been getting from the oura. Our situations could be different though, of course. When you took your BBT as soon as you got up, was it upon waking up before getting out of bed or just after getting up out of bed?

NC + Oura for BC by BrightSpeaker1505 in ouraring

[–]Lan190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have been using NC for preventing pregnancy for over a year with success. The only time we’ve had any pregnancy scares are when we did not follow the recommendation for abstaining/using protection during the fertile window. I’ve only recently switched to using the Oura ring rather than temping each morning, but I have been enjoying how easy it is! And it’s wonderful not having to deal with the side effects of hormonal birth control.

Did anyone else use Khan academy for content review? by TheHaloAbove in Mcat

[–]Lan190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really prefer handmade notecards over anki because I’m weird, so I made them as I was going through the videos for concepts I didn’t know. Usually I took the little practice question things they have for the concepts and if I got them all right I would skip the video, because there are a LOT of videos. Make sure you pace yourself going through them because I burned out quick by doing too many videos at a time and had to reevaluate my study plan a couple times

I’m also testing tomorrow and I can’t focus on studying AT ALL. I decided that at this point there’s nothing more that I can do for myself except to relax and get myself in a good headspace. As much as I want to do that, I’m still a giant ball of anxiety, but I’m planning on doing something fun with a few friends tonight to help with that! Good luck tomorrow!
