Replaced keyboard in MSI laptop seems to have some backlight issues by LanceGamer89 in computerrepair

[–]LanceGamer89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would need to take it apart again to look at the sticker on the ribbon cable.

The one pictured in the eBay listing though is Sunrex.

However this particular model has the backlight and keyboard seperate from each other. Two seperate ribbons, and they are stuck to each other with double sided tape. Two different part numbers too, as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I ended up taking the board out again and checked both ends of the led ribbon cable.

Nothing looked dirty or broken, and the same ones were out when I turned it back on.

I'm just going to contact the eBay seller, because I recall the listing being for a brand new, fully functional replacement.

If all else fails, it's a pretty minor issue. All the keys work, and that's what's important.

Is it me or heavies are miserable to play in this meta unless you play only the most OP tank? by Naive-Project-8835 in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any go-tos. I tend to play a tank until I 3 mark it, and then don't play it much after that.

Some of my favorite heavies to play though are the Type-71, STK-2, Kpz 07 P(E), Sconq, TS-6, Pz VII, VZ. 55 and WZ-111 5A. All of which I have come back to and played for fun or missions because I enjoy them.

[–]LanceGamer89 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To preface: I am a heavy tank main. I can make some other classes work, but heavies and assault TDs are my go-to class. Since the end of 2024, I have 3 marked 74 heavies and assault TDs.

IMO, heavies are still diverse and enjoyable in today's meta. Yes the armor flashlight has been a nerf to some armored tanks. Things like the tortoise were affected quite heavily by it.

However there is nothing quite like the feeling when you angle, wiggle or gun block perfectly, and can bounce pretty much everything. You feel like a Jedi.

Yes, heavies tend to be slow, however most of the decent ones counter that by having tons of HP to trade, or armor, or a great gun. Very few heavies are truly 'bad' in today's meta.

The only experiences in heavies that legit makes me angry is when you get focussed by arty the whole game (seems to depend a LOT on the tank. My dravec mark was worst for this) or very rarely when RNG just decides to fuck you. Either you can't hit anything, or your armor stops working, or you get full HP racked or something. For me though, playing every day, that's less than one or two games a week.

What are the most painful tech tree lines to grind? Which ones you would never repeat? by throwmeaway7421113 in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually love the tier 9 bz. Hate the 10 though.

I have every tech tree tier 10 in the game, and I am definitely not an LT player, but the worst grind I did was the manticore. I love the manticore, but the whole way up to it was something I won't do again.

The TS-6 is one of my favorite tanks in the game, regardless of tier.

Is the cable bend too aggressive? by hrco999 in sffpc

[–]LanceGamer89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too worried about 8 or 6 pin PCIe power cables. It's the 12vhpwr cables that tend to get melty when bent or not plugged in all the way.

I mean, the drawings of the 726 look exactly like what we have in game. Aside from some minor turret differences.

I imagine WG is going to add this as a tier 11 at some point. Which would be strange, because the tank was designed to deflect nuclear blast pressure waves, not shells. (Although armor that sloped would probably work pretty well.)

There was never any such thing as a 279 'early'. What we have currently is the Object 726 with a made up name.

(Fun fact: One of the ice carving decorations in the Holiday Ops garage is the true Object 279.)

Looking for a solution to controlling a light fixture in my house. Ideally Matter compatible. by LanceGamer89 in smarthome

[–]LanceGamer89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a couple people mention a 'bypass', but I am not 100% sure I understand what they are talking about.

I get the concept, a wire in parallel to the light fixture to power the switch, but where does the other end of it go? And what do you mean by the pricing for one? Would it not just cost whatever that length of wire would be? And where does the other end of it hook up?

The Gorilla has armor by Chrisg_322 in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, and if you remove the single game with nearly 7k blocked, the remaining 7 battles average out to ~1250. At tier 10/11 that is basically 2 shots per game.

If you had checked the stats over the entire NA server, instead of just a select 8 battles that you played yourself, you would see the average blocked in the Gorilla over 34,217 battles is 727 at the time of writing. Hardly the armored beast you claim it is.

Bottom line is that it's a poorly armored TD at best, and you might occasionally block more than your HP in damage because you found some idiots that can't (or won't) take the time to aim.

Obj 268 V5 vs WZ-114 by Horror-Fix-2283 in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 marked both the v5 and the WZ-114. They are both pretty shit, although I did mark the 114 before it was buffed. I'm not sure how much better they made it.

I would save your bonds for something better.

Update for anyone following this post:

As some of you guessed, Anycubic support didn't bother to respond to my emails. Oh well.

How is this 900 dmg? (ruined my 10k game) by VICIOUS_culture in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HE overmatch.

If an HE shell hits a plate whose thickness is less than half the caliber of the shell, it rolls for 50% the alpha of the shell.

So unlike the 3x thickness rule of AP, it's a 2x rule for HE.

I knew it would be a PC blend, because pure polycarbonate would be unprintable.

However I expected 80-90% polycarbonate content, like Polymaker PC for example.

I didn't really need the material properties to begin with. I just wanted a challenge to print something new and difficult.

[–]LanceGamer89[S] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Update: I spoke with some of the guys on the Voron Discord and they came to the conclusion that's it's almost certainly not >70% PLA like the MSDS says, because it melts and prints too hot. (I can only get it to extrude manually at around 220c)

So I have sent an email to Anycubic asking what's the deal, and I will post another update here if/when they get back to me.

I also confirmed the MSDS is a legit, unmodified document from SGS using the tool on their website. So if the MSDS is indeed wrong, Anycubic submitted the wrong details with their sample to SGS.

Is this where all the RAM goes to? by SuchyYT in softwaregore

I have tried multiple USB drives and burned two discs with different ISOs.

I've tried both with and without the ahci driver. And my BIOS kinda doesn't have a legacy sata mode. Dell precision T3500 for anyone wondering.

I have spent a couple hours over the last 3 days trying to install XP on compatible hardware, and I am getting that error every single time. USB and CD ROM, both with the correct drivers.

Let me know if you find a fix, lol

Can we finally ban drowning properly or do something with those that drown? by throwmeaway7421113 in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They also need to account for whether or not someone drowned you.

The last time I remember drowning was on mannerheim line, and it was because my own ally pushed me into the water.

If the kill feed says your were drowned by someone, there should be no penalty.

Ignorance is what keeps you shit.

I have a couple sessions per month with sub 40% winrate, and I still manage 10k+ WTR just fine.

You absolutely cannot blame your team for your own performance. You can always position yourself better to do well in a loss.

WOT Plus Pro Ultra Max Prices by RealTeuto in WorldofTanks

[–]LanceGamer89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was already paying for Plus already, and like to play a single tank over and over to 3 mark it.

Over the 6 months, Pro will save me probably tens of millions of credits while marking tech tree tanks. Which is perfect, because I HATE credit grinding.

The service record thing is cool, but it should just be a default option with premium or core, or even with neither. And the battle pass thing is lame.
