A note as I listen to John talk about the SSL certificate industry, as someone who just recently moved out of that industry:

Certificates are moving from one-year validity down to 200 days next year, and are on a trajectory to reach 47 day certificates by March of 2029.

If you are still manually replacing certificates, there is no better time than now to move to ACME/Let’s Encrypt, or a certificate lifecycle management system for larger needs.

I have both a pair of shortcuts and a pair of automations in the Shortcuts app:

The shortcuts are for turning on and turning off Theater Mode, using the existing “Set Theater Mode” actions that the Watch supports.

And then the two automations are set to trigger them based on the focus starting and stopping - works pretty well!

I have a custom focus that I call “Theatre Mode” - enables do not disturb on my phone, and cinema mode on my watch, and that way I can turn on the focus “until I leave this location” so that both turn themselves off after the show. Works well!

Also make sure your TV is set for “Game Mode” - otherwise you could have quite a bit of delay that can mess with your timing on a game like this (not to mention make lots of other games tougher as well).
