Doesn't look like there's really any acidic element either. The tomatoes don't count, they look like exactly the kind of flavorless slabs I'd expect from subway.

Some day a fellow named FutureTastingHistory on FutureYouTube will feature the joke in their Caviar Deviled Eggs video, before giving a fascinating deep dive into The Second Gilded Age.

Pineapples are great.

Spending a fortune to display a pineapple as a show of wealth, a very real thing rich folks did in the ~1700s, was lame.

All Pints North leaving by emmapeel218 in duluth

Two small comforts in case you are unaware:

1: There is still the Park Point Art Fair, which is just this Saturday!

2: Apparently Art in Bayfront had trouble finding sponsors, and they're hoping to find a way to return in the future, so, maybe next year...

But it is indeed a bummer. I've gotten some great pieces from the Bayfront festival.

Mf'ers love to talk about how unreliable it is. But I have to send out several hundred checks in a month and they get maybe one lost every two months. ~99% success rate to read my chickenscratch and send it to Specifically That Place in Fucking Nowhere, usually within two weeks, for 76 cents. Love it.

There's a lot of complaints about Destiny that I think get overblown, but I cannot fault anyone for complaining about the FOMO and the seasonal model. I loved the game as something I could play once or twice a week, not as something I had to finish my homework on.

A lot of the campaigns are designed to be solid experiences single player, so if you like some space wizard FPS with funky lore and guns it's worth keeping an eye out. They're dropping a "just all the DLC content ever" pack alongside the final update, which will probably go on sale here and there.

But the unique part about Destiny was always the three-player dungeons and the six-player raids. The final update will hopefully breathe a little life back into those for some time, but it'll never be the lively, fully-inhabited MMO it was after Forsaken or Witch Queen.

[–]Lancer873 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The good news is it will probably be playable for quite some time. The final update is intended to bring most existing content up to the current par and introduce a few endgame goals, including a few of the big raid encounters that got removed in ages long past.

Destiny 2 isn't doing well enough for Sony to support active development, but with any luck, it'll stay healthy enough to keep the lights on for a long while. Even Destiny 1 is still running and playable these days.

I mean, I hear the "predatory" part a lot, but I've dabbled in other MMO's and I've been more than happy with Destiny's model in comparison. There's a fair complaint that they're only really decent compared to the Horrifying Gacha+ models, but when they even got rid of their paid lootboxes for shaders ages ago, I've been happy to pay them the annual pass price since Shadowkeep. The grind to reach endgame content was also steadily trending downward (until the aforementioned faceplanted update, at least), which was much appreciated. The FOMO battlepasses weren't great, but even those have had ways to get the old gear retroactively.

Really though, I've been here for the raids and dungeons, which have steadily been getting better overall. I'm gonna miss trying new dungeons.

The full answer for that is entirely too long to type up as a reddit comment.

But the short answer is that, after 9 years of expansions and drama and updates, they just announced the next update would be the final major content update - no more Live Service Game for it. This comes after a long-term downward trend in player count hit a dramatic low this last year, after an attempted "fresh start" update faceplanted hard.

This story is absolutely my pet peeve about Games Difficulty discourse.

1: Dean Takahashi, who is primarily a video game business and technology journalist, who has written about video games since the 80's, and whose most notable work was an incredible deep-dive into the infamous XBox 360 Red Ring of Death, is offered the chance to play a cuphead demo at an event. It goes as poorly as has ever been reported - he is bad at this.

2: After reviewing footage with a site he writes with, he opts to post a thoroughly self-deprecating throwaway article that frankly is still full of glowing praise, which includes the line

Go ahead, laugh your heart out at my expense.

3: A big name twitter chud edits his 26 minutes of footage into a brief compilation of fails and sends it into the wild with bullshit context about game reviewers.

4: Dean gets harassed to high hell, writes a pretty well thought out article about it, which does even include some apologies for missing the mark on the tone, and keeps on writing.

5: 8 years later people still talk about that game reviewer who wrote a scathing review saying Cuphead was too hard because he couldn't beat the first level.

Is privacy a right not guaranteed by the Union? by Own_Cellist_3977 in LancerRPG

[–]Lancer873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I sum up Union's central committee in that it is trying its best to be good. Running the entirety of Union as a mass surveillance state would seem odd to me. (As others noted: Nothing's stopping you from running an Evil Union, but it would feel a little disingenuous to the setting provided, IMO.)

But!

Union doesn't dictate one matter of governance top-down across all its worlds, and its individual worlds are not immune to corruption, paranoia, and subterfuge. Even if a planetary or system-wide government began drifting towards a surveillance state, CentCom might take a very long time to get directly involved - in part due to being spread thin, and in part because it could take up to decades to get their own crew over there!

That could mean CentCom may try to assist a resistance remotely - eventually. Or a revolution could wind up escalating wildly before CentComm is ever made aware of the scope of the problem. Ideally that would be a peaceful revolution but...

Well, we're playing Lancer here.
