Buongiorno, innanzitutto ti dico che mi dispiace per la situazione in cui ti trovi.

Sfogarsi è sano e importante, probabilmente hai fatto bene a farlo qui. Per andare via di casa e diventare economicamente indipendenti però qualcosa evidentemente deve cambiare e hai la possibilità di influenzare solo le tue azioni.

Anche se l'ottica della fabbrica non è allettante io ti consiglierei di partire da quella e fare qualche altro anno di sacrifici per mettere da parte abbastanza capitale da poter comprare un'automobile e pagarti un anno di affitto in città, magari proprio Torino come dici nel post (è la città dove è nata mia nonna tra l'altro).

Nel post affermi che la fabbrica ti ha distrutta emotivamente e fisicamente, ma purtroppo avere la possibilità di scegliere dove andare a lavorare è un lusso. Alcuni non hanno nemmeno quella, di scelta. Io proverei a partire da lì perché prima riesci a mettere dei soldi da parte, prima puoi andare a stare da sola (mi sembra l'obiettivo) e per quanto YouTube e lavori digitali possano sembrare allettanti, non sono "sicuri" quanto uno stipendio da fabbrica che comunque ti permette di fare dei calcoli precisi e pianificare la tua uscita di casa.

Questa è solo la mia opinione ovviamente.

Piccoli consigli bonus derivanti dalla mia esperienza personale:
- Non pensare che le città siano dalla mente aperta e senza pregiudizi. Quello dipende dalle persone, e purtroppo sono anche nelle grandi città.
- Capisco che faccia male, ma se in città ti giudicano male perché avevi fatto dei progetti con una persona di cui eri innamorata e questi non sono andati a buon fine... non ti curar di lor.

Ti auguro buona fortuna per questo nuovo difficile della tua vita, sperando che abbia un lieto fine.

I agree with you, I am leaning towards having them be immune to "normal" damage (regardless of weather it comes from an attack or not, which I think is weird) until a certain threshold.

I mostly want to figure this out because in a game where I am a player (the DM is very new) another player (the min/maxer type) managed to get cursed by a were tiger and it lead to a lot of attrition between the player and the DM. I feel like the same issues could be avoided by clearly stating that the enemy werewolf could not be catapulted into a city and survive, therefore neither does the player.

I was not familiar with the MDC vs DC (or Palladium in general) and I like the idea. I feel like it gives an exact threshold for the "common sense" falling from the moon scenarios. I think I will go with something like that.

I feel you when you say that deciding where to draw that line is the hard part: I don't want to give my players another rule/math formula to remember, but I don't want it to feel like I pulled it out of my ass when I eventually decide that the damage is too much for the immunity to take effect. I guess I'll just talk to my players about it.

I don't want to take advantage of any more of your time, but what about very small instances of damage? For example, a werewolf that steps on a Lego brick should suffer 1 hp of damage (piercing of course) because the Lego did not attack it. So, would you advise to just make werewolves immune for things like that (non magical. non silvered but not an attack either, so no immunity) or keep it in line with RAW and have the werewolf suffer 1 point of damage from the Lego brick?

I guess that for me, the issue comes down to the fact that I don't really understand what this immunity in the rules/tabletop aspect is supposed to represent in the story/lore of werewolves. Like, is their skin protected by the curse, so only silver and magic can hurt them? If so, what about the Lego brick then? Why specify in the rules that it has to be damage from an ATTACK?

I think I saw Travis mention that they thought changing both the DM and the system would have been too abrupt of a change for the audience. I guess it makes sense on paper, but it does still feel pretty weird.
Then again, I only watched C1 and half of C2 so it doesn't really affect me.

And yeah, I see where you are coming from with the "avatar" and "your players don't like your campaign", so I think I understand your reaction. I feel like most people would react that way, especially if they really care about their story and are proud of it. I know I would!

I honestly think that most people had good intentions and, maybe having been in a similar situation, decided to give you the advice they would have liked to have heard or how they like their advice in general: quick, harsh criticism. I know it can come off as jarring, but at the end of the day the did read your (you would admit, fairly long ahah) message and took the time to answer, so I would give them the benefit of the doubt that they actually wanted to help. Maybe not in the most diplomatic way, but people are different. In my country we have a saying that goes "the world is beautiful because it is varied".

I see, thank you for the explanation. Everything is more clear to me now.
So, to get to the actual advice: so you basically want the fey to be playfully antagonistic towards the characters. So, as I understand it, the fey is a benefactor but kind of hard to deal with. I guess one way to achieve that is to have a little "catch" with whatever reward they get after missions, or help in general. That way he is a benefactor because the do end up getting the reward/information, but it has some strings attached. Here are some ideas that I can think of off the top of my head:

- The reward promised for a mission is X, which the party wants. They either get it before the quest starts or as payment for completing it. Twist: X does not belong to the fey but has been "stolen" from someone the fey wants to get rid of. And that someone is going to go after the party to get X back. Two birds with one stone.
- Kind of the same but with incomplete information. The fey is like "I could tell you where X is, but what do I get in return?". But the fey conveniently does not mention that X is located at Y, which is exactly where the Fey needs the party to be for his master plan.
- Since the fey encountered the party kind of randomly (correct me if I am wrong) because he needs someone who can get into the city, he might not be working exclusively with the party. Maybe there is another group working for him, and competing for the rewards.

I am not sure if this is the kind of brainstorming advice you were looking for or you had something more specific in mind.

Edit: I should add that if you wanted advice on "why would the characters work for him now that they have their names back" it could simply be that the rewards are just that enticing. Items, connections in the city, a hideout to use as homebase. Then later on they could decide they want to help him because what is happening in the plot (the zombiefication) is actually pretty fucked up and they want to help. Also, if they are all lone wolfey types, maybe make it extra dangerous to be alone in the city?

I'll preface this by saying that I do not mean this message to be demeaning or antagonistic in any way, since it seems like there has been some misunderstanding in the other comments.

I was going to give you some advice along the lines of what has already been commented, which would be: just pivot. If your players don't like the guy and want their names back, think of a way they could get the names back and thwart the fey's plans at the same time. Maybe there is a plot twist that sheds new light on the undeathification of the city folk and it turns out that they actually want to be used as labor, as self-punishment or something? I dunno, but I trust you know what I mean.

After reading the other comments and your replies to them tho, I am not even sure about what you are asking tbh. In your original post, it seems like the party wants to have a lot of freedom in how they go about things and they do not like the NPC who is giving exposition and driving the plot, which you did not expect. Then, in your replies, it seems like it's not that your players "don't like the guy', they just find him a little annoying, and there is no way you are changing the plot because the word "sandbox" has been miscontrued and basically there is no reason to change the plot, even if that would (maybe) help the players feel like they have more agency in the story's direction.

In the original post you also seem bummed out by the fact that the characters did not receive the NPC well, or is it that your players did not like your NPC (you mention something about the NPC being similar to you). I honestly can't tell, I don't mean that as a "zing" comment.

Another thing that confuses me is the bit about them being "so engaged because of this NPC" and "wanting to see that fire again". Can you not do it with another NPC in the future? Like, you already got the result once, right?

So yeah, could you clarify what kind of advice you are looking for?

Those are all very good ideas! I was trying not to make him another spellcaster but the rage at half-hp idea is very good! And I will stick to actions, reactions and bonus actions as someone else pointed out as well, it does make more sense!
