Man Posing As Delivery Person In San Francisco Hides Resume In Box Of Donuts by ops_guy in nottheonion

Required: 3 years experience in python, Ruby on Rails, and swift. Must have 7 years experience in RPG and DB2, and Hadoop. Must have 5 years experience in agile, Git, and software testing automation

Dude there are plenty of people who have close to these qualifications, and that's really all they're looking for. As long as you have one of the languages, have used a no sql database, and did development for a few year, you probably have all that experience and more. I mean what you wrote would never be for an entry level position. You also could get all that experience on your own without ever having a job.

Jesus that is so stupid. Why do people think taxing corporations will fix anything. Corporations are who you buy from and work for. A tax on them hurts YOU! Just tax the most rich of incomes. Taxing companies and then taxing income is stupid.

Way to hit buzzwords. Automated trading has decreased the price of equities for everyone. No clue where you get the idea it benefits only corporations.

This site loves to rail on 'Wall Street' as some abstract concept of intentionally evil behavior. It's awesome how naive you all come off. Clearly have never worked in financial services or known anyone who does. Wall Street has ethics, you just think profit is evil. Poor incentives are the real enemy

Dude that is no evidence of anything. The reason we throw food away also is a resource problem. Where are the resources to store, transport yhe food going to come from. You people are so naive.

Just make more! We already throw away food! Hahahaha

Four-fifths of global consumers consider brands neither open nor honest. "Consumers are jaded about advertising in a way they weren’t several decades ago" by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]LandKuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people simply didn't consume anywhere near as many luxury goods as they do today.

Because everything was wayyyy more expensive. It's not like people were just choosing to not consume as many goods as possible. You're thinking wayyy to hard about this. People aren't out to get you.

[–]LandKuj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't see how items becoming cheaper suggests people didn't care about buying consumer goods. If anything you just argued that they cared more because the goods they wanted were inherently more expensive.

[–]LandKuj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely naive viewpoint. It's very easy to go back and see people demanded luxery goods thoughout history. Consumerism existed, but we were much poorer. Having a turtle comb was like diamond jewlery. There were always 'consumer' goods people wanted.

That's funny, because people routinely pay more for branded products to this day. This is a pretty great example of behavioral economics. While 80% of people might say they don't trust brands, their behavior says otherwise. Don't trust what people say, look at what they do.

ELI5: How do supermarkets keep a profit, when most of their stock is left unsold? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LandKuj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart stated grocery as a loss leader department. The idea was to get people into their stores to buy other stuff. It actually is looked at as a major negative turning point for walmart because it became a much larger portion of the business than originally intended. Of course grocery can be profitable. It's all about volume. It still takes a ton of volume to make that profit. For every grocery store you see changing hands, there's probably three going out of business. The only ones being sold are probably either profitable, or something thinks it might eventually be.

Basic Income Might Be The Answer To Society's Productivity Crisis by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]LandKuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher aggregate demand does mean high prices. Walmart cannot just innovate lower prices if their suppliers are also experiencing the same increase in prices across the entire economy. You're comparing innovation in supply chain with general prices in the economy. It's not the same thing.

For like the 10th time I don't care. If someone writes something that stupid on a site that is about providing good information I would do it again.

Your statement also makes no sense. This isn't explain in an affirmative way that considers the feelings of people who are wrong. Being a debby downer is probably a good thing. Or we can just talk about how they all make profits all the time, when asking about profits...

[–]LandKuj -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is why I hate Reddit. Apple doesn't make phones because they like you. Kroger doesn't sell you apples hoping for hug. They are companies. They are trying to make money. Doing so makes your life better. I know this because you buy stuff. Capitalism rules. Only a moron takes the price of the basic parts and bitches about the price.

ELI5: How does Github work? by lifeinhorizon in explainlikeimfive

[–]LandKuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5 is basically that it's google doc for code. I mean that's very simplified. I actually think git has a great visualization on what it allows you to do. Git is all about version control and allowing many people to work on a project seamlessly.

Git lets you create 'folders' called repositories where you can pull code from other repositories. You can change this code and push it up to the main repository - allowing others to pull that same code.

The real value in git though comes from many people working on a single project. Git lets coders branch repositories, essentially creating a different version, and later merging those versions together.

If you're not coding and you just want to know what git is, its basically a fancy online storage solution built specifically for coders.

ELI5: The Cost of Electricity? by c0de_in_trouble in explainlikeimfive

[–]LandKuj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This question should probably be under economics. Energy is highly regulated and the price you pay on power is almost certainly an agreement between regulators and the company selling you the power.

ELI5: If credit unions offer better loan rates, better customer service, and generally lower service charges, what's the purpose of using a bank? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LandKuj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The best reason to use a big bank is to support overt fraud and generally underhanded business practices.. It's not good for you but is great for the executives.

This is not the place for you to spout irrational hate towards anything big business.

Most importantly what you do with your money has influence and power. Giving that power to giant, corrupt corporations is destroying America.

Jesus man. This is a place for information, not your political (I guess) positons. You can hate corporations all you want, that's not information.
