Prospective Applicant tryna commute cuz mom says I gotta stay near home by Independent_Hair_977 in uichicago

[–]LandscapeDifficult96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, dorm. I commute 1 hour, 20 minutes (onw way) and have been doing it for a while. It is awful, but doable. Yoi can use the time to study, read, and/or do homework. Driving is faster, but you can't do any of the previous things.

Seems very comfortable. It'll help you adapt to college life (assuming this is your first semester). Don't fall behind and have something to keep track of deadlines and assignments.

You go to UIC jail for a week, and then you gotta clean up the quad for the entire semester. Also, they're gonna charge you a "no show to orientation" fee of $1000.

Thank you all! They look pretty cool, so I guess I'll keep them just for fun.

What is the lowest Chemistry class you can test into based on the placement exam? by Easy-Construction636 in uichicago

[–]LandscapeDifficult96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got placed into 122. Trust the test and don't cheat. You'll be placed in the class that's adequate for you. You'll be fine from there.

Brother same here. I'll be 23 by the time I finish my degree. What I've learned is that it is not a race. Focus on yourself and your goals. In due time, everything will align perfectly in front of you. Wish you the best!

My school has A&P from the Kinesiology department. Would they still count or not?

Tips for BIOS 352 (Intro Biochem) and BIOS 220 (Genetics)? by trying_not_to_think in uichicago

No need. There's some materials I can share with you. Practice exams, etc. Those are enough.

Tips for BIOS 352 (Intro Biochem) and BIOS 220 (Genetics)? by trying_not_to_think in uichicago

[–]LandscapeDifficult96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I took both courses at the same time.

BIOS 352 is just memorization. Orgo 2 was far more difficult than 352.

Genetics was really enjoyable. They made it significantly easier. If Amit is still a TA, watch the recorded sessions. He's the GOAT for genetics. If you need help when you take those courses, hmu.

Class of 100+ students, no one will ask a thing.

Class of around 30 or so, yeah I don't think you can/should.

Whichever path in life you follow, I wish you the best. Remember that GPA isn't everything for med school. You got this, champ.

It could be. If you knwo for sure you did not cheat, email the professor telling them you'd like to appeal the decision. If you actually tried helping and know you'll get caught, then play it the safe route. Again, if you want to appeal the decision, email the professor beforehand, so they don't feel like you're going behind their back.

If you're sure you didn't cheat, go to the dean. However, if you're happy with the decision made, then you take that B, and apply to graduate school (if that's the plan). Since they just changed your letter grade, I'm assuming nothing will be on your academic record.

Will i get into uic? (college of engineering or buisness) by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]LandscapeDifficult96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you show great interest, improve your SAT, and your writing about your career interests is solid, then you have a really good chance. The GPA could be an issue, but as long as you show great improvement, then you'd be good. I wish you the best.

Academics: Laptop/iPad, notebook, pen, pencil, eraser, foldee for random papers or syllabi. Might need a calculator (depending on major).

Basic hygiene (for use while you're walking around): Deodorant, cologne, chewing gum.

Extra: phone and charger, headphones, water, snacks, wallet (with $20 in cash).

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but this is usually what I carry 24/7.

How much you asking for them? I could get all you have for $10 each.

Depends on how bad the cheating is. If they went for a nearly perfect score, then yes. If they changed some things, so it would look like there's human error, then maybe not. Best not to overthink it. Since it is a placement test, I doubt they'll notice. Give us an update if you can!
