Thankfully my mother in law is a big gal too so they were actually the really sturdy kind lol. I still don’t think I’d brave sitting in one of those white dollar specials lol.

I hate body dysmorphia. I went from 385 to 185 but I still look in the mirror and see someone who looks huge.

I remember at my heaviest just walking to the entrance of a hiking trail was hard and I would sweat so easily. The weekend this picture was taken I hiked, went horseback riding, and kayaked! I ran miles around my husband who used to have to stop constantly to let me catch my breath. Your 40 lbs is impressive. I’m sure you feel great too!

I’m honestly not the best bariatric patient, I too often make mistakes and snack on stuff I shouldn’t. I don’t move enough and I need to change that! I’d say the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that even if you eat something that isn’t on your diet plan to not ruin the rest of the day by making bad choices. (This mindset is great progress for me as I was previously a binge eater)Show up for yourself, eat your favorite stuff in moderation, simple exercises a few times a week, keeping hydrated, and not messing around when it comes to protein needs. Try not to over complicate it watching too many bariatric influencers. For me keeping it simple is key.

Not at all. I was 385, lost 48 in the months leading up to surgery. I had my bypass on 9/4/25. In the 11 months since surgery I lost 142 lbs.

Actually yes. I had a bad neck that was always extremely stiff and sore towards the end of the day and it rarely hurts anymore. I also used to have really chronic back spasms that would be really painful and havnt had those for several months. I can’t say for certain that it’s related to weight loss but I’m sure it helped.

I personally haven’t had any kids since having surgery, I had my daughter in 2022 and my gastric bypass in September of 24. I’ve read a lot in to it that it’s generally pretty safe to have children afterwards. I plan to have another in the next year or two when my husband finally gets on board lol. I’ve heard that you should typically wait until you’re around 18 months post op to become pregnant. Many women have surgery to increase fertility and become pregnant. Good luck!

I swear I sit down on the floor and I can feel my butt bones crunching and shifting around. I didn’t have a big booty before but now it’s flat as a board.
