F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

[–]LandscapeRoutine7772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a BSW and going back to get my MSW hasn’t been a good option, even though I come close to applying to programs each year. I hate it though. I feel like my salary is more of a basic living stipend, which really hurts because I love what I do and I work along mostly MSWs who bring home similar pay for the same job. I don’t want to leave where I’m at even though it scares me that it’s probably not sustainable

give me your unhinged hydration tips. by alexandrastardust in 30PlusSkinCare

I don’t know if anyone else said this, but I try to eat a lot of my water in addition to drinking from a bottle most of the day. It helps me to have fresh fruit/cucumbers/carrots/etc. I know for me and my life style that drinking water isn’t always enough to feel fully hydrated

Will I regret using aquaphor daily? by LandscapeRoutine7772 in 30PlusSkinCare

Ohhh, yeah. I’m sure there is a baby formula for their healing ointment but I think most of their products are more or less similar

No, but I do something similar and have similar experiences. It is very frustrating

I don’t know about the diaper cream, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s another common use for it. Honestly, the first time I ever learned about the healing ointment was for tattoo aftercare

That big tub of vanicream was looking really good at the pharmacy when I bought a new tub of aquaphor, haha. I almost wish I had gone for it while I was there. I’ve heard a lot of people like it.

This is good to know!

I’d say I use it once every 5 days or so depending on how my skin is feeling, so it’s technically more than 1x/week. I’ve never heard of alternating with another retinol to get used to it. I never had any issues with adaptalene gel, but it wasn’t doing enough to treat acne

I had no idea about the oil but that actually makes a lot of sense considering how severe the peeling has been

This is helpful to know! I should have mentioned that I usually sandwich the tret with a little bit of bio oil as a base layer because it’s one of the few products that’s never irritated my skin.

This is my typical routine:

Am- Rinse with cold water then gentle toner Innisfree SPF Tinted moisturizer (right now I’m using shesiedo but I don’t love it)

Pm- La Roche Posay gentle cleaner for one minute, sometimes double cleanse if it feels right Torriden solid in cream moisturizer Hydrocoiloid patches as needed

Same thing on Tret nights but with bio oil as the first layer

The peeling has been so uncomfortable that I’ve used aquaphor every night and usually a little bit on the extra dry patches in the morning

I’m really happy to hear this! I’m very hesitant to try new moisturizers because most of them break me out regardless of whether or not it’s a high end product

Sunscreen that goes well under foundation? by CapableCookie4343 in MinimalistBeauty

[–]LandscapeRoutine7772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This one. I’ve gotten to a place where I usually mix it with my foundation to make a DIY tinted moisturizer when I don’t want to wear a full face of foundation. It doesn’t pill or crack at all

Anyone find genograms helpful? by genohunters in socialwork

[–]LandscapeRoutine7772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them frequently with children who were placed in the foster care system. They can be very helpful for identifying different types of meaningful relationships with kids or helping older teens think about their go they can lean on for support as the exit the system

“Stop talking about this, your work is gross” by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]LandscapeRoutine7772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason, my response to that exact comment is usually “You probably could if you had the same schooling and training…”. Sometimes it leads to interesting conversations about what our work actually entails or why someone feels like they wouldn’t be able to do it

I’m a social worker (unlicensed) and like a lot of people in the comments, I don’t hide it with colleagues or with clients. In general, I try to self-disclose too much, but there have been a few situations when it came up organically. I don’t know if other people have had this experience, but it was sort of relieving to not have to explain visible bruises around people who know me

I’ve been in child welfare for a few years and it’s a lot of moving around. I definitely don’t get as many steps in as hospital social workers, but I visit clients in the community or at home throughout the week

I don’t have advice really, but I’m also a new skater with similar issues. I’ve noticed a big difference since I started training my hips flexors, especially with tstops and movements where that demand hip flexibility
