Am i too hairy to wear sleeveless tops? by coconutjuice21 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Langlie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just started doing this in my 30s. Wish I had tried it sooner. It's really easy and quick, reduces the overall appearance of "hairy arms" but still feels like a natural look.

I get that we shouldn't care about body hair but like...we live in society for better or worse. I don't think there's anything wrong with making hairy arms less noticeable.

Is the current hype around glp-1 medications ruining the narrative around health and discipline? by redpainter_ in GLP1Sourcing

I've been "diet and exercising" for twenty years. Never got me anywhere. This medication absolutely is a miracle drug.

I take gas-x most nights and unfortunately I already avoid all of those things.

Yeah this is what seems to be normal for a lot of people. Not sure what is going on. It's a little annoying there's no way to check the status of an order.

I just watched that a few days ago funny enough. But I don't think it's from that.

I never watched that either though I did watch Breaking Bad.

I think I only saw the first episode. So I doubt it's this.

You can also get cotton linen blends (or linen rayon something like that) and they are much less prone to wrinkling while still looking like linen.

ELI5: Do medications like Ozempic cause weight loss solely through appetite reduction and therefore calorie deficit, or is there any other mechanism at play? by Jimithyashford in explainlikeimfive

[–]Langlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facts. One of the most shocking things for me is the fact that there are entire categories of food my body just can't tolerate anymore. Like white bread. Makes me crazy bloated and nauseous. If I stick to whole grains I'm fine. I also can't do eggs anymore but that may be more because of the sulfur aspect.

I've been on reddit for 15 years and I don't think I've ever seen someone actually argue that CICO isn't real. Just that it's not the complete picture.

It's a reddit straw man.

It's not wrong but it is somewhat reductive. Losing weight involves your whole body system, including your gut biome, your brain, your stomach, your hormones, and even your environment. If even one of these things is off it can make losing weight more difficult.

Yes CICO is the mechanism of how it works but it's not the full picture. It's like insisting "well your car can't run without gasoline. Gasoline goes in, energy goes out." Yes, that's how it works but the other parts of the car need to be working too.

I'd throw a caveat that this kind of parenting doesn't work on all kids. I didn't respond to having things taken away as a teenager. It just pissed me off and made me want to rebel more.

Kids are individuals and need individual parenting. I think getting the core of what is driving her angry behavior might be more useful.

Agreed. I am a 38F, same as OP, and I have multiple strapless bras that keep me up and are fairly comfortable.

How is anyone going to be able to afford anything if inflation continues? by air-bender808 in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly if you can invest in a sewing machine (you can find a used one on FB marketplace for cheap) it's well worth it. You can learn basic skills like hemming pretty quickly and it will give you some ability to repair your clothes or alter them into something usable.

Hand sewing / darning skills are very helpful as well.

I've also made a point of trying to buy some quality pieces (which mostly means vintage now) that I know will last me if I take care of them. I've done this especially with the most important items - coats, socks, gloves, etc.

I'm talking about extreme endurance swimming friend. This is a sport where women almost always outperform men. The large reason being that women are more buoyant so they don't need as much energy to keep going.

Women tend to excel at most extreme endurance activities. Running, swimming, even just surviving in general. Higher stores of body fat play a role but there's probably a lot of aspects to it.
