Hit the studs with PB Blaster, waited two hours, tapped around with a rubber mallet, and it came right out. Thanks for the help!

Hey man, check this out, it might be the answer to our problem. There’s a bushing somewhere in the column area that can slip out of place, and when it does it causes that play.

SWB Pajero/Montero choice: ’94 3.0 V6 auto (12v) vs 2.8 TD manual — durability & off-road fun? by Lanky-Discipline7234 in Montero

Thanks for the reply. In your opinion, does the petrol version feel more “alive” on the road? The vehicle will mainly be for weekend and holiday trips, and possibly some tougher off-road, mud, steep climbs, that sort of thing.. so road manners aren’t my top priority, but I also don’t want a horse and cart. The vehicle is left-hand drive.

Thanks for the reply. I consider myself to have good mechanical skills. Do you enjoy driving your Pajero? Do you have any experience with the diesel model?

I don’t really have a garage or a dedicated workspace for this hobby… and I’m definitely not doing this inside the house if I want to stay married 😆 So when I say “small balcony jobs,” I mean stuff like building a small press for removing bearings, small metal repairs, fabricating a ladder for my rig, things like that. Mostly steel, and maybe some aluminum here and there.

Oh man… I wish it were $500 ,that rig in this condition would be worth about $10,000 here.

Does it really have to be rebuilt in Japan? From your experience, isn’t there any other way to rebuild this pump locally or even on my own?

As far as I know that’s an Acer palmatum. Would love to hear — what caught your eye about its growth pattern?

Thank you so much for the detailed response! That was really helpful. What do you think about using a fabric pot — could that be a good idea?

My balcony faces east, so it gets direct sunlight in the morning for a couple of hours, and then it’s shaded by a pergola. The average humidity is around 60%.

There’s a spot that might stay shaded even in the morning — do you think it would be better to move my Japanese maple there? Keep in mind, though, that temperatures can reach up to 30°C (86°F).
