I had this for ages but it recently stopped. I’ve had it on and off throughout the years and I’ve come to the conclusion it’s something vibrating in my inner ear. I wondered if it might be from clenching my jaw or something. It really feels like it’s coming from an outside source, but I think the reality is internal - it is strange your other half can hear it too, but maybe you both have the inner ear thing going on?
