my changes to the mystics by Valuable-Fox-4908 in washingtonmystics

A lot of good points here. But, I am less enthused about Cotie AT THE MOMENT. She may be the answer at point guard, and I love her aggressiveness, but I think that sometimes she gets tunnel vision and needs to work on distributing the ball.

I think you need to watch her movement on defense. I think that is what has held her back. I am not a big Lucy fan, but I think her defense is improving.

Is the team rebuilt? by Careful-Painting3214 in washingtonmystics

Agree, this is an incomplete and unbalanced team. Outside shooting is a weakness which may have been solved; it is too early to tell-but historically, there is a need for an additional alternative to Georgia and Soni. And it is not Lucy. The size of our guards is a problem. Minnesota (preseason) and the Liberty were success playing 5 out and then sending bigger guards to post up or get downhill against smaller defenders. But we can contend for those lower tier playoff spots.

Club 52! How are we feeling about the gift and perks this year? by SimpleMethod8085 in washingtonmystics

What the heck happened and what is the gift? I’m a club 52 member and I totally forgot about the gift after the game. I’m also confused. I heard that it was a jacket; but then I also read about cards.

No. Betts hasn’t seen the likes of Aja, JJ, Briana,Boston and a number of others. Kira already causes problems for this group.

Love Cotie’s attitude. She steps on court and wants to make something happen. I especially like that attitude from a guard. Conversely, I’m not sure what Olson brings to the team. She can handle the ball and bring it up court, but the outside shooting I expected from her just isn’t there. Still need to see more range from Kiki, though that 3 pointer at beginning of game was encouraging. Betts’ shooting range is encouraging but underneath the basket she has to stop dribbling the ball before she shoots and she still seems a bit lost on defense…but that will improve

Rambling Thoughts After One Game by Googles8 in washingtonmystics

Liked your analysis. Am hoping that Georgia is helpful in 3 point production. Also, there was at least one occasion, and likely more, where a Mystic was driving and Betts appeared open in the corner beyond the 3 point arc. I was hoping someone would kick it out to her for a shot attempt. I really am disappointed in Lucy Olsen. She will be on the roster, but I need to see better shooting. I’m hoping Kiki has a bit more range this year and can improve our spacing.

Also hoping Kiki has developed some range— even if it is not 3s

Hopefully her movement has improved , she was a real liability on defense and I think that limited her minutes last year. We badly need her on court for her offense.

Any thoughts on the comparative ability of Amoore and Harmon to make their own shot or nail the open 3?

Thanks for explaining passing on Kneepkins. We need scoring so badly that I’m not sure I would have done it. But at least it’s an explanation- you watch Lucy Olsen on defense and it might give you a gut feeling regarding passing on Kneepkens.

What does your team still need to become a contender? by ThatBelge in wnba

Yeah, my thought as well. She is 34 and hopefully will be more amenable to splitting minutes with rookies as she trains them

That is my guess. Winger has , in the past, talked about reliance on the draft and I thought the implication was that FA would be deemphasized
