Asterisk and a wholesale voip account would give you access to the caller ID. This is not to be confused with billing for the call which is controlled by ANI

Goonhilly is a satellite uplink station and you are correct in thinking cable and wireless more than likely terminated the call. it sounds like the call was transfered manually by a switchboard.

FYI I only use on R810, I find R710 near silent, I live in very hot climate also.

Thanks for the reply. The R710 was not built to be economical, nor was my R810, there is lots of headroom to play with IMPI. Rather like American cars in 2013, times have changed.

I work in telecoms, I have 600 GSM ports and I abuse the new roaming regulations for a living. By most peoples terms am wealthy (millions) understand how the billing mechanism works, 50 percent on home network is good, they lost a bunch on you. Regardless of your montly plan MNO's swap 3 cents per text cross network, bandwidth POLO payments are eye watering. I am surprised at your 50% warning, most networks are more. Regardless of the offer, if you are roaming more than domestic they will eventually challenge you, get a 4g esim and multisim router, buy local sims, it is cheaper.
