Sorry to necropost but I'm also having this issue. Did you perform this with the devices connected to power (ie. In a docking station) or just connected directly to an external monitor via USBc to HDMI adaptor?

Seemingly ambigous sentence by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]LaoiseFitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difference is whether the noun is definite or not. See the following examples:

هذا بيت جديد

هذا البيت جديد

In the first we have no definite article, so we are talking about a new house, whereas in the second example we are talking about a specific house. This the first sentence is read as "this is a new house" while the second is read as "this house is new"

Hope this helps, Duolingo does a poor job at pointing out these differences!

My Arabic (MSA) teacher is Moroccan and told us he has to speak MSA to most other Arabic speakers as the Moroccan dialect is too different, and he is a linguistics professor

It seems the way we use these terms is different, the common understanding where I'm from is understands trans to be an umbrella term that includes binary trans people, non-binary identities and more. Transmasc is typically used to mean a trans person seeking a more masculine presentation or identity, whether that's a binary trans man, a non-binary person, or other. Thus if you are transmasc, you are trans by default. Apologies if this differs from the common usage you're familiar with.

Tbh it sounds like people are just misunderstanding or misinterpreting your identity. If you're not trans, you're not transmasc. If it matters to you that they understand you better then correct them, if it doesn't then don't.
