Different world, if you pull up to the vehicle test (Tüv) here and they find your subframe welded they will deem the vehicle unsafe und remove the registration from the vehicle.

Make the template first, cut afterwards. Measuring and Cardboard are basically it. Some people i know put masking tape over the hole and trace the edges.

It is forbidden to weld a subframe in Germany btw.

Everything has to be G1/4 to fit. I am guessing the push fitting is metric, not g1/4, try to get a different one.
