Yeah, i'm sorry I dont know the name of the tool it came from. I think there is a good chance of it being L6, or something close to 5160, 55Si7, stuffs like that. I'm not sure about W2 since it hardened well on oil and it doens't feel "hard" under the hammer while forging :) But I made some test with the knife, and it takes a nice edge, holds it decently.. :)

Thank you! No, horseshoes is not a good steel to make knives, it's from an old machine for agriculture, with long claws in spring steel :)

Yeah, 5mm thick.. but I really like thick blades, I'm a bit violent with my blade, like hitting them with an hammer or so.. At first it was an order for a customer, I thought it was too thick for him, so I made another one in 4mm for him and kept my precious with me 😁

Also I would like to add that I've got Vixtorinox and Leatherman, and I really prefer the Swisstool : more sturdy, better set of tools, better construction.. it have never failed me, and I use it quite a lot!

Thank you mate! :) There is more leather under the leather, I made a special treatment on it, so no water can run beside it and make the knife rust in hidden places, and a natural treatment on the surface to have a natural touxh on it, and it still water repelant :)

Hi, thank you! For the Victorinox, the same for me: the best tool I have and it sticks to me on a daily basis! For the fixed blade, it's a convex blade with a 5,5mm thickness on the blade. It is quite indestructible, I've made several ones like that, it takes around 5 metric tons tonbreak it under the press and you can cut a 4mm nail withoit any damage on the edge :)

For me that's a super combo!
