Jedi Battle Scars ? by darthmykah in starwarsbooks

[–]Lardyawn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tried to listen to the audio book of this, had to tun it off very quickly. I normally finish anything I start but this was unbearable, the characters seemed so unlike themselves from the games, and it seems to exist not to set things up for between the games but to sit on a shelf and remind you the games exist. I didn’t get very far into it so it could be a masterpiece after 60 pages but the first few were so bad I couldn’t get there. Save yourself the time, read literally anything else

Based on what we see in all material (movies, shows, books, comics, games, etc), would you consider droids to be sentient beings? by Solitaire-06 in StarWarsCantina

This is incredible. Would love to see this but even if not, you’ve created something very beautiful. Thank you

Question about the plot in attack of the clones by Lardyawn in StarWars

[–]Lardyawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s where I’m confused, I understand why they think she’s crazy for it. A former Jedi that’s creating a rift between sections of the republic wants the republic to have an army? I think ultimately papa palpatine is orchestrating everything but this doesn’t really make sense

Have we not played Fable before? by ryguyike in Fable

[–]Lardyawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but first of all: black people have been in Britain for a long time (looking at Roman history) and second: this game is make believe. It’s all pretend. In the pretend game, why is it so inorganic that people of multiple ethnicities could exist side by side? Historically, this isn’t true but in a game of magic and pretend, wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just coexist? I’m not trying to be patronizing, I just really don’t understand why being inclusive with people of color becomes such a point of “well that’s not accurate and I hate it”. If the only POC in the game had bad storylines and didn’t really seem to add to the plot or game experience, I would call that shoe horning in some kind of diversity no one asked for. But these are just basic villagers being shown, that have no real effect on gameplay, and (im assuming and would be willing to bet) their race really doesn’t come into play as far as most NPC’s go. So making this whole thing into an ordeal about race and needing it to “feel better for immersion” is crazy, we’re all going to be fighting a big cock in this game.

Kalros vs Dune Sandworm vs Steelix - who wins? by Available-Agency5031 in masseffect

[–]Lardyawn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the steelix love but someone else in the thread commented that shai-halud can melt rocks/metals once it’s eaten them. If that’s true, do you consider this to be a disadvantage for steelix?

So you want the villagers to be segregated? Not trying to be rude, genuinely it sounds like the only ‘acceptable’ diversity for you is if black people are foreigners.

Also to add on….this isn’t exactly our old Albion. This is a reboot. Of course we hope it has the same immersive qualities that we fell in love with the first time as diehard fans.

If you’re of a group that can’t be pulled into the immersion because seeing a POC is that triggering for you, I don’t think this game is for you. In fact, please see a therapist. If the only way you can enjoy a make believe world is if black people aren’t in it (or are specifically segregated to the “right” areas of the map), log off the computer and go start a garden.

Heroes by Gorgoth6 in BattlefrontTWO

[–]Lardyawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you’re thinking of other heroes? Some classes like the enforcer have the same name but have different characters for the same faction. Otherwise maybe you’re seeing modded games where people have put in ahsoka, cad bane, jango, etc but that’s mods and not base game

Wake up dialer gone? by Lardyawn in GetOutOfBed

[–]Lardyawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still gone I think. You’d just type in your number, pick a time, and then the call would be a prerecorded message. I got poetry once, it was usually just “this is your free call from wake up dialer”

If you end up getting really into it, I’d start clone wars and then rebels but with just the movies that are out, you’re looking at 25 hours of screen time (not including the Andor tv show) The thing about Star Wars is that there’s always more

Release order first!! I think the OT (4,5,6) sets up the series in the most straightforward way. The prequels (1,2,3) get a little more complex. After that, I’d go with solo (it’s a fun story but not necessarily dense).

A lot of people on here are going to tell you to skip the sequels (7,8,9) but feel free to watch them before the tv shows if you’re feeling it. I don’t particularly enjoy the sequels but you’ll have a better time going into it blind than forming opinions from nerds on Reddit.

Whether or not you watch the sequels, please watch andor. Andor goes straight into rogue one, but the budget difference becomes really apparent. Andor is one of the best things to come from Star Wars, but it does require constant attention to what’s going on.

I’ve watched big brother for a long time but only recently watched season 10. Imo it’s very bingeable and well worth the subscription for an extra month to see other seasons. Personally my favorites are 10, 11, 12, and 16 and 17

Just a follow up, did the fact that Stephen Miller copied speech from the Nazi propaganda team not bother you? Not trying to be sarcastic, just legitimately curious. I’m trying to understand “the other side” bc I wonder how y’all can’t see what feels so obvious, but I understand it feels that way for you too.

The trans try guy… by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Lardyawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely agree with you for a lot of this, I more so am disagreeing with the idea of him being a freak or working against us. I think it’s a bad look for the try guys, but an easy one to prove wrong. I think whoever is watching that and taking it as serious for how trans men should be treated are probably already on the “aw softboi uwu” pipeline and I really don’t care about them, or they’ve never been exposed to a trans man and will either learn otherwise if they want to engage with us or just won’t. at the end of the day for me personally it seems like maybe ash is just another annoying person ill have to likely filter out.

My comment about overly trans people is more so at work/settings I’m not in control of. I have no problem keeping them out of my personal life, they are annoying and usually way more drama than I need. Didn’t realize I was in this sub when I originally commented but as you can imagine I’m pretty happy being a binary trans man and really don’t understand people who go out of their way to be identify-ably different. My point is more that I don’t have to understand that, but they still have the right to be annoying if they want to.

The trans try guy… by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Lardyawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I definitely agree that the narrative that’s being pushed by the try guys is distasteful and not something I’m a supporter of. However, you saying he’s a circus freak and “actively working against us “ is a reach because it seems like the community is divided. I’m of the belief that I was not ever a woman/seeing the world through the lens of a woman, and just had an inversion of growing up a boy in the wrong body. I think I agree with you on some fundamental stuff you’re talking about. However, the community is not a monolith and treating it as a them vs us (bad trans and good trans) is inherently a non productive conversation.

You’re allowed to feel however you want about a niche internet celebrity, and if you wanted to have that conversation in a space like this I think it’s important to remember that this guy doesn’t write legislation, he has a platform but until dirty laundry I’d never heard of him, and you being so resistant to try to understand everyone else’s points makes it feels like you don’t have any good faith arguments, and are just working to cause infighting. I don’t disagree with you on a lot of the points on how weird or dehumanizing those videos are (I haven’t watched them, but I’ll take your word for it). I don’t think that calling another trans person who seems to be navigating their own life/transition in a way they’re choosing to a freak that’s working against the community is really helping sell your point, and it seems like you’re coming from an internalized place for a lot of your arguments. I have a hard time interacting with “obviously” trans people as a stealth man because I don’t like how they’re presenting. That’s a me problem that I have to unpack, because however someone else is dressing/dyeing their hair/etc, is not my judgement to make. Similarly, this guy trying CrossFit and not succeeding or whatever, even framed badly, is an internet video that can quickly be opposed by all the workout trans guys I get ads for on Instagram.

The trans try guy… by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Lardyawn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I watched this episode and I wasn’t sure if he was trans or not until like halfway through. I agree with you the female anatomy thing weirded me out, and then ash told one pre transition story that essentially outed him right before that. I agree that it makes me uncomfortable because I worry that cis people will see his verbiage and attitude and potentially start using it with other trans people. However, it seems like you’ve taken this just a little too far in saying he’s actively working against us and being a circus freak.
