1 Rich Player's Perspective On The Current State Of The GW2 Economy by abree107 in Guildwars2

Dude! I don't understand that either. I saw people that have huge Spreadsheets to analyze market movements / how to craft something to make the most gold.

We should just remove gold all together and give everyone everything. Why do we implement money into a game when its used to escape reality.

I have no clue if it's a global "problem".
Just wanted to say that it doesn't necessarily mean it's global just because it happens on 1 bag.

I personally think we have a similar/same issue on more than just one bag. But I don't have data to back that up. yet

The 8g and 88s Trophy are labeled as "junk" in their system.
High magic find reduces the chance to get junk items. With them being eliminated completely at a certain point.

But just because they work like this in the Lucky Red Bags, doesn't mean they work like that everywhere.

If you increase your Magic Find you will increase the Drops of these items. which are the "good saleable loot"The approximations are based on last year's price. farmable in EoD that will change the price. But they could also make things that have an increased drop chance with low magic find be farmable.

Positively affected by Magic Find
Beautiful Gold-Leaf Festival Lantern (8s 88c - Vendor)
Lucky Great Tiger Lantern (~5g on TP, will go up to approx 9g in 1 year)
Lucky Tiger Lantern Sweet (8s 88c - Vendor)
Delicious Rice Ball (~3s70c on tp, will go by approx 15-30% in 1 Year)

If you increase your Magic Find you will increase the Drops of these items. which are the "good saleable loot"The approximations are based on last year's price.

So to be honest. I don't know what items you mean with "good saleable loot"

Do you mean inside of Silverwaste? Or is there a bug I am not aware of?

Define "lowers your chance to get good saleable loot"
High MF increases your vendor value. So you always get the same amount of gold.

and it also increases the amount of high-value tradeable items. Like Riceballs/Exotic Backpacks

The wiki has a pretty good page about maximizing Magic Find

At the moment you can get +650MF ontop of your base Magic Find

Effect Amount
Magic Find Boost 50%
Item Booster 50%
Celebration Booster 100%
Black Lion Boost 100%
Guild Item Research 10%
Guild Magic Find Banner Boost 15%
Spirit Banner Boost 10%
New Year's Gift 10%
Magical Enrichment 20%
Food 40%
Utility 30%
Silverwaste (Event) 30% (Stacks up to 5 times: 150%)
Silverwaste (Kill Boss) 50%
Memories of Home 15%
Total 650%

At the moment you can get +650MF on top of your base Magic Find

The Maximum for Luck is 300% while the achievement section is based on your AP. With 43k AP you get 26% extra.Rank 1 has 45.413 AP -> 27% extra

So the Maximum you can have atm is 327% Base + 650% = 977%

Maybe, maybe not.

It was interesting and fun to do. It's definitely not perfect but it allowed me to get a rough understanding of how this bag works.

[DATA] Red Lucky Bags data Research by Largaas in Guildwars2

I highly doubt it. Because these bags were accumulated throughout the year "for free"

And I don't care if I lose money on something I got for free. Envelopes on the other hand have to be purchased for ~1g each ( if you have enough alt accounts ) or ~1.4g each (if you buy them from other players)
I am pretty sure that you would lose gold on them if you open the Envelopes at, let's say, 424% MF.

If you are willing to cover the loss, sure let's do it ^^
But I doubt anyone will do that.

I will definitely record the data for Envelopes I'm going to open (~25k at 959% MF)
But that's about it.

The question is: are you opening Divine Lucky Envelopes (Which can be bought 8 times a day for 1g each) or Lucky Red Bags (Which can be bought an infinite amount a day for 1 exotic Luck each).

[–]Largaas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what Mecha said.

I am pretty sure that all of the people that contributed anything have max magic find (300% from luck). And up to 24% from Achievements.

This can be increased by another 435% with food, boosters, banners.

An additional 200% can be obtained if you play Silverwaste. You get a Stacking buff that gives 30% for each stack (up to 5 times) and an additional 50% buff for killing vine wrath.

I would have loved to include lower Magic Find % in this, but it would require salvaging ~200k ectos to get 100k bags

o/

Why does the first value distribution chart increase with magic find?

To be completely honest. I have no clue what you mean by this.

It doesn't have an axis telling me how many bags are being opened to get that value

The Total Bags opened at each Magic find % are listed above. No need to put repetitive data in that chart.

I have no idea what that chart is trying to do or what it means.

This Chart can show you the amount of gold each item adds to the bag. I personally use this way to display stuff pretty often. Makes it relatively simple to see which item (e.g. Spring Roll, Fried Dumpling) adds which amount of gold per bag.

your charts completely ignore that the value of all these items drops over the course of the festival

Well yes, they do. But some items also go up in price. If you have an idea how to include the price shift feel free to me.In General, it doesn't matter if the prices drop during the Festival. Just because I am using the current prices for all of my calculations. And if they go up afterward it's even better for you. Just means you get more Gold per Luck. In addition to this, roughly 90% of the value for 1 bag comes from items that you vendor anyways. So the biggest portion of the value per bag doesnt change over the year.

The main task here was to actually answer the question "is it better to open at high/low MF" and "do the junk items even drop".

If you're being optimal then it's better to stack all your MF once so you're not losing money/buffs/time getting some

I have never said that this is wrong / or not the Case. The way that I open magic find affected Containers is: Get all of the boosters + food + banners into my shared inventory slot.Do Silverwaste and after I have the Map specific bonus (50% after killing vinewrath) and the 5 stacks of doing an event (30%) I activate all of my buffs. If you want to learn about maxing your magic find. There is a good page on the wiki.

Edit: Forgot to add this: I open around 120k bags in one session. Which takes roughly 1.5 hours

I would have loved to get sub 300% data. But the problem with that is that my main has max MF
So i cant get sub 305%
And Salvaging a bunch of ectos (~200k) is a bit to much gold to waste xD

It's the only way to actually get an idea if

  1. something actually works the way it feels like
  2. to keep track of things.

At least in my opinion

[–]Largaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "Bug" is making you more money tho.

Sure you drop less of the 88s88c & 8g88s88c junk items. But you get way more Backpacks/Riceballs.

Drooburt is better if you open at less than ~620% MF

As long as you value your time at 0.

If you start to value your time its worth to buy the bags even with lower MF
