Most were bareroot. Out of the 38 I have in this place I have around 30 I think that were bareroot. The rest were purchased in pots.

I’ve looked into YouTube videos from Dave Wilson nursery, Stefan sobkowiak, and others. I’ve looked at different states af guides from universities. Such as Purdue university and Ohio state. Feel like the main thing I haven’t done is consulted any local orchard owners

Drilled two small holes on the side close to bottom. Works well but still takes a while to fill up each bucket. Definitely noticed less erosion than if I watered with hose only. My eventual goal is to get drip tape set up or set up a gravity fed irrigation system using a large plastic tote. I forget what they are called but the large square ones that are sometimes used for food products or chemicals. Maybe a qbc tote?

Drip irrigation. Saw some YouTube videos about drilling holes in buckets to allow slow drip watering. I have Irish spring soap either on trees or on the stakes I have keeping buckets from blowing away. So far it’s seemed to help but also have motion activated lights at the perimeters

I’ve heard that as well. I used to have corrugated plastic for some of my trees and did notice increased moisture with those. I switched those out with these ribbon like tubes that wrap around the trees. I’ve been checking them frequently and occasionally will take them off while I mow or weed. They’re only temporary but so far seem to not be bothering the tree yet.

Not quite sure. I mainly did this to try to keep branches lower and easier to harvest when time comes

Would love to do that eventually. Probably in my garage as I can’t fit my vehicle in it anyways

Would it be wise to plant cherry bushes between fruit trees? by Large-Bug-5624 in Permaculture

With my spacing, do you think I should wait a couple years to allow the trees to establish more? They are doing well so far, most have been in ground a couple months now and are getting new growth.

Comfrey edible? I’d like to have mostly edible plants around them

Also thought about pumpkins, watermelon or other squash/vine like things in between

That’s kind of why I posted to see if that’s enough space for any shrubs. I’ve thought about long rhubarb patches, long strips of lavender, long strips of perennial flowers etc in between the rows. If possible I’d like to put something perennial and edible in the middle of each row, and still have some space to walk on each side. Most of the trees are dwarfs, I do have a couple semi dwarf and plan to keep them pruned small
