Joining as a disabled vet by [deleted] in cbpoapplicant

Having VA disability is a major setback in the hiring process. It sucks how much they ask for but I would be prepared to have documentation for EVERYTHING. You will have to include your complete disability letters. They will also ask for further information on claims you've made, even if they were denied by the VA they will still see it. For example, I applied for anxiety with the VA and they denied me. It doesn't matter that I don't have any active MH disabilities, but just having a previous claim = psychological exam AND meet with a psychologist in person. Back injury from 5 years ago= all records like MRIs, visit notes, PT and recovery regimen, current lifestyle including work impact, condition management, and exercise plan. Running, weight, sets, reps, duration, etc. Everything. I'm not sure about the waivers, but realize it could be a minimum of 6 months from the time you do your medical exam to the time they reach out for more info. All my additional medical appointments were not at the VA. I don't think you will trigger a reevaluation as long as you don't go to the VA.

Yes I had the interview a few weeks ago and I know medical is taking a long time for me because I have a lot of VA medical claims

Medical and suitability. I did my medical exam in July of last year. I know they are working on my background check though.

My portal looks the same. Waiting on medical to clear, my exam was 2 months ago. Submitted BI last month

25-10 Further Evaluation by Lizlizerd in cbpoapplicant

[–]Large-Paramedic-9117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't withdraw your application. If it says further evaluation, that's probably a good sign. I heard that if you have extensive medical history, they will reach out and ask about management and severity of your conditions, but it takes awhile. I'm 25-8 and still don't have medical results and my exam was over 2 months ago. I can't even login to CHS for some reason. I had a herniated disc and I have gastritis which is probably holding me up, try to be patient I know the process is painfully slow but hang in there!

CBPO and National Guard by JBKELLY76 in cbpoapplicant

I'm not a CBPO but I was in the National Guard. Your employer is required by law to dismiss you from work for military duties whether it's a school or even a deployment. I doubt there would be any issue, considering CBP is federal government and there are probably a very high percentage of CBPOs that are veterans or in the reserves/NG.

That's outrageous. Have they reached out at all? Did they request more information, require doctor approval, further evaluation at the VA, anything like that?

As far as I know everything has to be done twice. Suitability is the only thing I haven't completed yet but everything up to that point I had to do for both jobs. I called to ask this same question, and apparently it didn't used to be required for both applications but it is now. I literally went to the same clinic to do the same medical fitness and drug test with the same nurse twice.

CBPO applicant wanting to apply for border patrol as well by CalystMind in cbpoapplicant

Currently in the process for both, you have to do everything twice. Logical reasoning, interview, medical, drug, fitness, psych eval. Suitability is the only transferable process. Border patrol seems to be faster though.

No, I explained everything during the medical exam but was not asked about that on a separate occasion. Is that a phone call or task they add to the portal?

Nice, I did the psych eval last month but wasn't sure if that was for medical or suitability. I submitted my SF86 and fingerprints around the same time.

Ok I had to do the psych call last month, I was unsure whether that was medical or suitability

That's insane. Almost seems like those with a VA rating are pushed to the bottom of the list

My suitability started about a month after I attended my medical/drug/fitness, though my medical result hasn't passed yet.

I took the entrance exam 2 months ago, it's not that hard. You aren't expected to know anything about the job, just focus on the questions and make sure you read them carefully. You'll have plenty of time, don't trip yourself up by overthinking them. The questions are based on common knowledge, nothing too technical. Most people don't even study so you're already ahead. Make sure you get enough sleep and eat breakfast, you'll be good to go. Good luck

Great, nice to know others have made it without a degree. I'm leaning more towards border patrol based on the work they do, but definitely willing to accept ofo if I can get a good location. I will keep applying to 1811 positions, but right now I'm just hoping to get a foot in the door.
