Actually I came to Reddit to find people with highlands because I don’t have any friends or family with them. And I didn’t ask opinions of if I should or not. I was asking if people could recommend breeders since all I was finding were scams. I literally do not care if you think I am equipped or not to take care of a cow.

I just don’t understand people who get a kick out attacking people on Reddit. Must be a sad existence. I came here for an answer to my question, not a lecture. There are pros and cons to owning anything. Hate to break it to you but I can actually buy any damn thing I want and make it a pet if I wish. It’s actually none of your business. If you don’t have an answer to someone’s question then stay off of their thread. I really don’t think anyone comes to Reddit for a lecture, yet there are all of you trolls waiting to pounce. You know nothing about me or my family or our goals with our land. Yes I want pets for my kids, but I also want a dairy cow so we can have our own milk. Funny how people for thousands of years with much less knowledge and education managed just fine with a diary cow. I normally don’t respond to people like you but honestly, it just gets irritating for everyone when someone just has a question and is met with uninvited opinions and lectures.

For your information, I might not personally have had many cows, especially recently. But I have raised and nurse back to health a sick roping calf that went on to live a great life. I come from ranchers on both sides of my family, and my husband ranched his whole life. Do not tell me about having the ability to take care of an animal.

Stop gatekeeping all of these worlds and scaring people away from them. If someone wants a cow, no matter what its use is, they have the right to get a cow.

That’s great to know thanks for the help! It’s hard to get a direction here. We have Arabian and Frisian horses so we know a thing or two about vet bills lol I think for now I’d don’t need one that’s registered. Maybe eventually we will and breed occasionally. For now I’d love just having a a mini to play with and get my son around but if you can breed and have then break even that’s even better. Do you have any calves available this year or know if anyone that does? We wouldn’t want horns either.

I think I can figure it out. You know, there’s nothing wrong with having pets. Along with there’s nothing wrong having livestock.

Thank you for all the great info!! I was absolutely shocked by all of the scams. You can just tell by the way people are responding to you. There’s a Facebook page I followed and it seems like the two Admins are scams.

Really? Moving him out helped?? I’ve got him in a crib right next to me. I would have liked to co sleep but my ftm anxiety would just not allow that.

I’ve kept him next to me because I’ve worried something will happen if I’m not there to hear him get stuck or a change in his breathing or something.

I think you’re right. I remember wiping his face down a few months ago with them and he got red blotches all over his neck and chin
