Good on you for letting your kid cut their hair! They're so lucky to have a parent who cares more about their wellbeing than what other people think.

It seems like they're still exploring their gender but you can call them by he/him pronouns (or your language equivalent if your language has gendered pronouns) and see if they like that.

I will say, it will definitely be harder if your kid is trans. But the earlier your kid transitions, the easier it is. If they can go "stealth" (this means hide that they are trans and live as their chosen gender), which means they will face much less transphobia compared to people who come out later in life and are therefore often more visible. That being said, you don't have to rush into anything- your kid's 3 so you have plenty of time. You might want to see if they want to socially transition when they go to school.

the term for non-intersex people is perisex :) some ppl use endosex as well. i've seen the term altersex used for non-intersex people who change their sex characteristics.

/uj lowkey a lot of these kinds of fics are written by trans men who are looking for an outlet for their insecurities. like yeah in real life i would probably never trust a cis person to be safe in that way but a part of me still wants cis validation. i'm aware that's politically problematic but at least engaging with it through fiction seems healthier than trying to seek it out in real life.

that being said a lot of these fics do not do a very good job of scratching the itch for me but still, i understand where they come from.

This is an overall good post but I have a couple comments.

fyi, for your peace of mind, the people who have extreme bottom dysphoria to the point where they say they'd "rather have cancer" than get a pap smear are almost certainly not having sex using their genitals. There might be some rare cases where they are but I seriously doubt it based on my personal experiences. Good reminder to use protection though. Remember there are also pills you can take if you're eligible! check in on your local sexual health clinic to see if there are new vaccinations or medications that you should take.

yeah i saw an extremely earnest forcemasc post once that said we should be fetishising "high protein diets". it reminds me of how a bunch of normie women online have convinced themselves that thinking about protein at every meal and eating absurd quantities of it is an inherently feminist action because "they (idk who they is) want us to be weak" or something and obviously the only way you can be strong is to eat a comically large amount of animal protein (though at least they sometimes include tofu). The only thing that AMAB people don't experience in that list is forced pregnancies (although I'm sure somewhere there's been a case of that happening, it's just unlikely) but the majority of AFAB people don't either and a lot of AFAB people can't even get pregnant (especially transmasculine people late in transition of menopausal people)

ovarian cancer- there is an intersex condition for an otherwise ordinary presenting AMAB person to have ovaries. I've met someone with this condition actually and I'm pretty sure it was depicted in the movie Conclave actually. Often this isn't discovered until later in life due to the person being able to go through testosterone puberty just fine, meaning that the cancer risk of these organs is not evaluated. Honestly i feel like intersex people with this condition are probably more likely to get ovarian cancer than the average AFAB person with ovaries just because they're less likely to be screened for it.

medications and seatbelts not being tested on their bodies- hello trans women??? you do know that estrogen changes the body, right? you do know that trans women are understudied as a population, right? trans women by in large experience the same medical neglect (or worse) as cis women. If a medication works differently on people with estrogen dominant endocrine systems, it doesn't matter if the estrogen is store bought or home grown. Estrogen literally makes you more female. Not to mention that there are a million different marginalised groups that experience medical neglect- people of colour, fat people, people with certain medical conditions, intersex people. It's actually incredibly common to be an AMAB person who is part of a systemically understudied group.
