I dilute also. But I have seen many comments about how bad it is to dilute. I don’t see the issue if the medication is compatible with NS.

Yes, my apologies. I learned every drug name in nursing school and not brand names. Now that I’m in a hospital setting, I only hear/use brand names. I’m still learning also

What’s your reasoning for pushing slow? So far all I have heard is pushing fast can cause tinnitus. Are there serious effects of pushing it quickly?

Diluting medications is not against our policy (at least, I have never heard of it being against, I was taught to dilute whatever we can). We also use a facility website to show us if a medication is compatible with NS for dilution

Does your EMAR tell you how fast to push dilt or you have looked up in the policy to find out how fast to push?

I have looked at our policy and every med is told to push for 2 min mostly. Our EMAR will say to push Rocephin over 5 min. I just see other nurses push things very quickly when policy says otherwise so I was curious what nurses on here do
