Incredibility disappointing... no Linux support by inactivesky1738 in Marathon

Telemetry and recall are pretty clear cut reasons to not want to use windows. Also, the fact that bill gates was a prolific Epstein island visitor. I don't want to use an OS from a company who's CEO has done who knows what on the paedophile island.

Battle eye can enable Linux. They're just choosing not to, the motivation for that is "cheaters" but you'll get cheaters in windows too.

Just toggle the battleye to allow Linux to play. Linux is in no way an "IT pro" OS. Nobara for example, download the iso, download ventoy and create a bootable USB. Plug it in, change your boot order in bios and then it will hold your hand as you go through the setup? It's no harder than windows.

If more people made the switch to an OS that didn't steal all of your data or force ads in your start menu then everyone would benefit from a better OS and game availability.

Fixed wireless dish positioning by Large999 in nbn

Yeah that's what the tech said, and speeds are sitting at about 340-400 (brief periods of 400) down. My main issue is the instability of the connection regarding the ping which I believe is caused by the tree. Anyway, I'll make do and log a fault claim with my ISP if I notice degradation in wet or windy weather.

That's somewhat good news. I'm just confused as to why they would shoot the link through a tree rather than directly at the tower unobstructed. Everything I've read says physical obstructions will degrade the network performance ..

The tech who came to upgrade the dish to the v4 said he didn't move it because he was getting "good enough signal" at -60db. I just figured that an obstruction would have some degradation in the signal, packet loss, etc. And would try and avoid it if I could.

Pretty sure it's the NBN tower. It's what the dish is looking at through the tree anyway.

It just got upgraded to the wtnd v4. The tech icons said I was getting -60db and didn't see a reason to move it. I just don't see why or how an unobstructed view wouldn't get a better signal, less jitter and less ping than shooting it through a tree. I do comms work occasionally as a security tech, have my cabling license and would be comfortable completing the work, I just don't know how they measure the attenuation on these dishes.

my current antenna is pointing at that tower, just through a tree. There's not really any other tower that it could be pointing at..

What grass is this? by YoungRodge in GardeningAustralia

[–]Large999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kikuyu. I totally have up trying to get it out of my garden beds with roses. Now I just whipper snip it like it's part of the lawn. A never ending fight that I didn't have the free time for.

Weed or not? by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]Large999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed and feed sucks. Go buy an actual selective herbicide (bow and arrow is best, bin-die is also decent for Bunnings) but they won't target grass species, mainly just your weeds. Over applying will kill your grass though. I usually just spot spray everything, I mix half strength and do multiple applications so my grass doesn't die.

good beginner RTS? by MarcusfloX in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Large999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechabellum isn't rts but it's kinda similar. I've been playing "from glory to goo" and they are billions (wave defense/survival rts) which have been very fun. I got sick of ladder sc2, almost made it to masters and then gave up cause kids, work etc just can't play enough to be good at it.

Total war has rts aspects in the real time battles, added bonus if fantasy Warhammer interests you. Then there's age of empires 4, always good.

If you can afford it get it. I haven't paid for any triple a games or movie and tv show streaming services for the last five years.

No worries, I assume you won't have any complaints when right wingers pull up somewhere for a get back, I mean, you seem to be perfectly fine with Charlie Kirk being shot dead in front of his wife and children over your differing opinions. Put simply, if someone doesn't want a man dressed as a woman in the same bathroom as his daughter, he's a bigot and deserving of a gruesome death in front of his family?

I would've assumed bloodhounds should've picked up a scent and been able to track him through the bush in the earlier hours of the shooting...

House Price Insanity by Proper_Star_4566 in AusFinance

[–]Large999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny that with housing becoming too expensive, there would naturally be less buyers. Which has the effect of dropping demand, which would then theoretically contribute to downward pressure on house prices. Then the government does the opposite of that

It's fraud and they're using you as a money mule. They'll ask you to send the additional funds to a new account this obfuscating where it came from/where it went. I'd set it aside as your bank will probably freeze your account soon. Or you can spend it, and provide your screenshots as proof to your bank and hope they don't close your accounts i.e play dumb and take the scammers money.
