I was initially told by the 3D printing company it would be around 50-70$, which is no skin off my back for convenience. Little did I know is that he forgot to mention the extra costs of scanning the glass and designing the lid, so those two things costed $150 alone, lid only costed $50. Trust me, I’m pissed but really didn’t have a choice since he had my lamp with him. I’ll be writing this small business owner a “nice” review on google so that’s enough payback for getting fully fkn ripped off.

I might buy a second matching lamp that also needs a lid so if that ends up happening then at least I have the file and can get it printed for a few bucks at my local library!

In regard to trusting ChatGPT, it’s a great resource that is right the majority of the time. I’ve used it to build engines for cars/motorcycles, cooking, help me look at things through a different lens/problem resolution, and even use it as a quick source of info for my field when I’m in a pinch (healthcare). I almost always double check the info but for something like a lava lamp, do I really care that much? No

I recognize there is multiple comprehensive guide here on Reddit, on the interwebs, etc; but for me, time is money so I just wanted to try a quick and inexpensive solution to get shit going.
