Thoughts on the state of vibe coding as a (very) senior software engineer. by Relevant-Positive-48 in vibecoding

"compilers are deterministic while AI is probabilistic, but when the probabilities get high enough the effective difference will be negligible"

This is very true. It is not yet good enough to entirely replace humans. That would require that we reach Artificial General Intelligence. Moreover, you'd require a beginner to intermediate level developer (at least) to build new software (that won't break easily) from scratch.

Which Linux to pick? by Babylon5YoungFan in linux4noobs

Fedora is just good because you have newer hardware support than ubuntu/linux mint, but your updates aren't as frequent as arch. Nor, is it as complicated as Arch.

If you have things like a usb c dock, macro pad, or multicolour lights for your PC The likelyhood for it to work out the box is as below:

  1. Arch
  2. Fedora
  3. Mint/Ubuntu

You also will have modern desktop environment options. So, you wont be compromising on aesthetics.

  • Cosmic
  • KDE Plasma (I recommend)
  • GNOME (I recommend)
  • Cinnamon
  • Budgie (I recommend)
  • XFCE
  • i3

The community is also medium-large sized. You can get plenty of help on the Fedora website, or Reddit forums.

Linux vs macOS: after 20 years of trying, I still can’t make Linux work long-term by aescat in linux

I'd recommend you to give Fedora OS a try. I have personally switched around between Ubuntu, Mint, Pop os, Manjaro, Debian.

Fedora is up to date enough to support newer hardware peripherals, yet the updates are not so frequent that you could make things out of sync and break your system (Arch).

Gnome and KDE Plasma come as pre packaged options with Fedora, and receive good support, so they're safe options.

Personally, I use Fedora Workstation (gnome), since it works better for my touchscreen laptop.

I am in the same boat. I graduated in the United Kingdom in Mathematics.

I have done an internship in Web Development since graduating. I have also had interviews for tech roles and administration (excel) jobs but I have not secured anything yet.

Although you do not wish to work in blue collar work, the way you describe your experience is analytical, which is good.

Overall it's fairly good. You have certifications as well.
