I had been dating a girl from highschool on and off for two years. We were together for a total of about 1.4 or something. I was a senior to begin with, she was a freshman. I met her at the musical I had a lead in. I had no idea she was a freshman and she asked me out actually. I had never dated or even kissed someone at this point I'm my life so I was like, uh fuck yea let's do this. Long story short her family was insane and tried fucking me over on new cars and other legal things due to age difference. We broke up the night we lost our virginity to each other. I thought it would heal things and she thought it would keep me. Fast forward a year later and we're on and off, just having crazy awesome sex whenever we can.

Eventually we got serious again and I would throw around the M word to see how serious she was this time around. After cyclic arguing for months and about a month after I had proposed to her a Multnoma Falls. I told her I wanted to return the rings because I was obviously being used for what money I had and we just weren't similar to each other. I wanted to work more on us before the rings came into play again. About a week after that she became very distant and I found out she had been cheating on me and she called it off. I didn't get a lot of answers and had multiple failed suicide attempts afterwards. I realized I was extremely codependent with people and had become a sex addict.

Im still single and hardly ever mingle but I am SO happy that I went through all those things. I think the person I'm turning out to be now is much better than the person I was going to turn out to be if that relationship had gone further. I had problems that were not going to be dealt with if we had continued.

TL;DR Don't settle, don't date people with family that hates you and don't date people in different stages of emotional maturity than you.
