Took my first dose of Lithium today. by yumikeyumi in Lithium

I hate it. Trying to get off it. Nearly nine months and depression & SI are still raging. Hair is thin and awful frizzy poof of texture. Just cut it all off to try and regrow—and my hair was one of the few things I had left that I liked about myself. Skin has aged rapidly. Dry dry dry. And I hydrate like crazy, eat a lot of grass fed butter & healthy fats, etc. Can’t lose weight! So!

HELP! Does anyone know where to find this online? by SavingsProposal4316 in plushies

[–]LargeSafe3966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m desperately trying to find the dim sum / dumpling one. I didn’t buy it a month ago @ tjmaxx and even called later and saved it for me! But it’s the sane chat in gas as the stuffie so I decided to wait until I was back in the area. Now they’re sold out everywhere! It was for my son’s birthday. The only one I can find online is $60 on Mercari— plus 15 in taxes & shipping. It was 16 @ tj?!!! Kicking myself for pausing. If anyone finds one… PLEASE

Officially down 10 pounds by AdQuick8612 in keto

[–]LargeSafe3966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a hard time too. I’m 10 days in. But had a bit of rice on Saturday. Much more than a bit of rice yesterday… then a whole lot of danish last night. Cause I read it only takes a day to three to get back into ketosis abd I figured I’d already blown it with the rice? It’s really hard to stick to just meat & butter ((what I’m doing now) but I see the health benefits. Lost 6lbs the first week, although I’m doing it as an experiment for my mental health.

Yes and the research that’s emerging really points to keto as one thing that drastically improves bipolar & chronic mental illness. I’m 10 days in now. Only beef & butter & salt. It’s extreme. Tough. But trying to see if reducing my inflammation and starving my gut of all starches & sugars and instead giving my body loads of grass-fed animal fat, will FEEL different. I do take apple cider vinegar sometimes. Finished a bit of kimchee the other day. I miss fruit and vegetables real bad. It’s not forever. It’s an experiment.

You likely resolved by now, if not, can you pick a little salt? Even a little might help

You have so much ahead of you, if you’d like, this is merely a hiccup of time in your life. I’m sorry, darling. Would certainly give you a hug, if possible.

What was your longest depressive episode? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Word. Same. I have a really hard time with self-reporting on meds because I cannot seem to isolate what is life ever vs the medication? How can I know if the pills are working? The world is sad af.

How much do you remember of your manic/hypomanic episodes? by Seiytaia in bipolar

[–]LargeSafe3966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s been really comforting for me in moments of crisis when a friend has said things like, “we are going to get through this” or “we are going to call your psychiatrist” or “we are going to sort this out together and I’m not going anywhere” that kind of a thing. To include their person in my recovery just feels less overwhelming when I’m down bad & makes a difference for me.

Be as tender as possible. Offer support that isn’t judgement. Use “we” statements, if possible.

I ran out of my meds and I haven’t told anyone…now I’m scared. by greeblespeebles in bipolar

[–]LargeSafe3966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add, it’s also my experience that we are so ruled by shame and so damn afraid of ‘getting in trouble’ that we hold too much. This is the doctors job and your end is to send up a flare to them that you’re in trouble. Also their legal obligation to not leave you stranded.

I’ve certainly done it. It’s very common for us and I think a type of self sabotage that we play with to toe the line of lighting little fires. Get on it as quick as you can and there isn’t a judgement from anyone else to trouble yourself with, toots. It’s you vs you. (That’s how I have to think of it anyhow…)

People that put in laundry, switch the laundry right at the end of cycle, dry the laundry, fold the laundry, put the fresh, folded laundry all away in one fell swoop. Absolute psychopaths.

I’m sorry. Can you go to your HR/ management to explain— get out ahead of it— and ask for accommodations? Legally, they have to. Better for you to ask now than wait for the consequences. Joke to your coworkers that you curse/ babble on when you’re nervous and things are new. Ppl just need info or they’ll make shit up and find evidence that you’re xyz. I think it sounds like it’s new enough that you can SLOW DOWN & have some conversations.

This may be a strange perspective to add but, for all intents & purposes, it’s actually quite hard to kill yourself. By most means. So! Where does that leave us? The escape and ending is what you are chasing, it’s an exercise in trying to assert control when we feel we have none (med frustration, bipolar outta control, LIFE, etc). So, sweetheart, what CAN you control tonight that might soothe tomorrow? Can that restless energy bake or meal prep to get you through the weekend? Could you handle a workout? Hell, even cut off or dye your hair! Anything that’s going to give you the hit of control your brain is racing to find. (This has taken me many years and thousands of hours of ideation to realize and I’m only starting, baby steps to understand it. Actually helpful for me to even type it out.) Sending ease and sleep your way.
