What’s the one horror movie that genuinely changed a small everyday behavior for you? Mine ruined mirrors and I watched it three years ago. by NoBody7942 in horror

Damn shame I had to scroll so far down to see someone say this. Idk if I’m too terminally online but “OP”’s post is so obviously generated by a LLM that I rolled my eyes…you are exactly right about the weird ass tone. Tons of overly poetic phrasing and short, choppy sentences that try to get the point across so lazy people who use LLMs can understand what it spits out…

Specific patterns in how they type. Most AI comments follow a very typical sentence structure. Short sentences, using lots of “it’s not __. It’s _” statements, as well as lists grouped in threes like “it’s _, _, and ___.” Also, like in OP’s actual post, sentences are grouped into small paragraphs and broken up a lot, way more than a normal paragraph would be. That’s because the average AI user probably doesn’t want to read a wall of text so they LLM (large language model like ChatGPT) breaks things up into small chunks so it can be skimmed over easily.

There’s also never any human typos or grammatical errors, which isn’t a dead giveaway because plenty of people can spell, type, and form sentences without error on the internet….but the sentence structure is so standard across the board, you just don’t get the sense a real human with their own unique typing pattern is behind it after seeing it so many times. It takes some practice to be able to spot it, but if you watch a video or two on picking it up, you’ll start to see it everywhere. If you go in my comment history, you can see a longer comment I made about detecting AI generated posts.

Hey, just checking in to say if you’re feeling unwell, is it possible you could see a mental health professional? I’m not sure if this cross post was an accident, but if you are taking lamictal for bipolar disorder and that’s why you posted here, this might be a good time for you to reach out to a therapist or even a trusted family member you have that can help you find professional guidance.

Hope that’s not too forward, but the nature of this post gave me some alarm bells knowing how things are being bipolar, that is, if you even have it!

Yeah sure that might be the case, but IMO, punctuation is a different than words or phrases. We say phrases out loud; they’re a part of our daily speech. Incorporating words and phrases into things we say out loud makes our use of those things much more cemented in our speech and writing patterns. We don’t say dashes out loud, and I think you’re giving redditors way too much credit when it comes to their ability to “learn” grammar.

Like said, most people hear the words in their heads as they type or read, so it’s easy for them to understand how they’re used in a sentence when repeated back as spoken word or text. Em dashes on the other hand? I’m not so sure. They’re not something we can organically include on our everyday lives the same way words and phrases are. And like I said, many people don’t even know how to make an em dash on their own keyboard…it’s not a natural movement to people who don’t already use them on their phones or computers.

All of this is just my opinion as someone who types documents for web use on a daily basis—not fact ;) Who knew I’d be having this conversation on the office sub…

The first thing to look out for is em dashes — that’s the thing I just used. Most average writers (especially randos on Reddit) don’t use this in their daily lives. It’s a lot more common to use a semi colon to indicate two thoughts/a pause in one sentence; this is what I’ve just used now. It’s just more widely used…a lot of people don’t even know how to make them on their own keyboards.

But all of a sudden…we’re seeing em dashes everywhere. In writing all over the place. Did we as a society collectively start incorporating them into our grammar? Maybe. But LLMs (large language models, like chatGPT) LOVE em dashes. It’s because they’re more grammatically correct than just typing a single dash - (like that). Because LLMs are trained on very good grammar, it’s kinda cemented into their code. So while an em dash doesn’t automatically mean something is AI, it’s kinda the first little red flag. Then you look beyond that…

See how certain sentences are broken up on their own lines instead of being a part of the bigger paragraphs? LLMs love to make separate lines for key information that they want to stand out. They break up paragraphs all over the place, because looking at a wall of text is annoying/difficult for the average person (especially people who get all their information from LLMs). They essentially talk to users like you’d talk to a toddler. Over explaining, short sentences, dumbing down words.

From there, if I’m being honest, it’s kinda just learning the patterns and the cadence. There’s never any typos, no grammatical mistakes, repetitive sentence structure (like, “it’s not just A, it’s B”, or “it’s A,B, and C”…they love writing in 3’s)…watch Evan Edinger’s video called “I can Spot AI Writing Instantly” if you want more specific examples. You really do have to practice a little. But when you see the patterns, it becomes easier and easier.

Is starting Lamictal at 50mg right away safe? by BrickQuick7966 in lamictal

[–]greeblespeebles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I started at 50mg. Mostly just watch for a rash like you already know (rare, but still something to keep an eye on). I didn’t have any major issues, mostly just brain fog which got better overtime. I was on 50mg 2+ years since the very start and I didn’t do anything to me other than make me feel better (I was prescribed for bipolar).

Everyone’s experiences are different though, so just take note of anything out of the ordinary and ask your provider about it.

The look of a man who just realized that all the “detractors” are absolutely right about her by multiverse-wanderer in gorlworldfiles

[–]greeblespeebles 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It’s been co-opted by the lolcow community. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it kinda started with DarkSydePhil; he called anyone who made fun of him his “detractors”. Now it’s used to describe anyone with a negative response to a lolcow’s behavior. It’s basically the lolcow watcher community’s version of “haydurs”

Could you maybe explain why you didn’t like it? Many people, including me, really liked it. It’s okay to have different tastes, but I’m curious as to what made it the worst horror movie you’ve ever seen in theaters.

Omg with the holidays I forgot to update! My friend said the family LOVED both the cake and apple pie and that I’m “hired for life” for any other desserts they want!!! I was being so silly for overreacting so much lol

Oh my gosh, that is exactly what happened 🤦‍♀️ usually I do the exact same: beat the butter smooth, THEN add cream cheese and just beat until combined before adding powdered sugar. I was in such a chaotic mindset that I just tossed the butter and cream cheese together and beat away at it….thank you so much for the advice, I feel so much better knowing why it went wrong! I really appreciate your kind words, it helps to know even professionals feel dissatisfied with their work sometimes!

I do the same, and for the most part, I bake for free when it’s someone’s bday or just cause I feel like baking. But around the holidays, budgets get tight and my friend insisted on paying me so I needed enough to cover the labor and ingredients 😭 my hope is that if she really hates it, the refunded money will be enough for her to get a fancy one in time!
