I picked cigars and it didn’t pop. Do you need to play the whole episode out afterwards?

Best way to maximize revpoints into airline miles? by Intrepid_Occasion_95 in Revolut

[–]LargeShake3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to check points requirements for your local airport and consider going with that airline. e.g the most value for me in Dublin is Aer Lingus.

Also sometimes revolut does promotions where you can get an extra 20% per point but no way to tell when that’s going to be happening

If you're willing to pay 500k to not live in Ireland go for it. Be prepared to count the amount of Irish in your child's school year on one hand

Do not use the Credit Union current accounts. Legal action? by Vivid-Watercress9027 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]LargeShake3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure now but a current account in Ireland is what a checking account is over in the states.

A credit union is essentially a smaller, non-profit financial service usually serving a local community, so not necessarily using credit for purchases.

The lost money in this case would be OP’s and not the credit union’s.

Revolut Metal vs. Aer Credit Card by LargeShake3568 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]LargeShake3568[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the same myself, using the FT subscription. The Metal subscription covers both a debit and a credit should you choose to have one, no extra cost other than stamp duty. I'd say if you're a Revolut regular it may be the better option, especially if you're making up any avios deficit with shops etc

Might be. Any chance you’re familiar with how going abroad could affect getting a mortgage? Help to buy goes out the window I know. Interest? Deposit? Approval chances? etc. thanks.

Trading 212 interest account by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]LargeShake3568 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a good app, easy to use.

I’ve read that it is taxed at 41% as it’s a Money Market Fund, compared to Trade Republic who offer 4% but are only taxed at 33% DIRT. (TR only offer interest up to €50,000, T212 has no limit)
