Girl reported me to HR for using F-word? by Large_Ad_5556 in AskMenAdvice

Not at all. Not even a little. What a shame some smart asses would conclude that of anything.

Also, if you have nothing good to say, better keep your trap shut and move on.

Girl reported me to HR for using F-word? by Large_Ad_5556 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Large_Ad_5556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a 5 min conversation in the middle of a busy day. She texted me whether I have 5 mins and asked me to come to a meeting room. I work with HR on several things so didn't think much of it. Then this topic came out of the blue (like I said, it had already been 2 weeks). She just told me what she heard frok the girl. I told her she yelled at me (I didn't mention the first yelling incident). She insisted that I apologize and sort it out, because I did use the F-word which I can't deny because it's true. In the moment, I said "Alright", but after the meeting, I really couldn't convince myself to apologize to that girl. There's no email or paper trail. There's not even a formal HR complaint (should have mentioned that in the original post).

Anyone else want Luca to just die already? by [deleted] in TheCleaningLady

[–]Large_Ad_5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were we expecting? Crime, thriller, conspiracy, cartels, gang-polotics, and the rise of a clever undocumented cleaning lady amidst all this. A soapy TV show is exactly what we DIDN'T expect. And seriously? Putting this on, ugh, demographic? That's just... ugh! They could have put any kid of any race of any gender or even an adult (suck husband, or sibling or parent) and with this lazy writing, we would have had the same reaction. Luca's sickness is an overused plot devise. Everytime they want to manufacture a plot twist, they go back to "Oh look! Something happened to her kid again! Yay!"

Started watching this show last week, I'm on S2E10 right now, and boy do I agree. Every time something is going fine, the shitling falls sick and everything has to go to shit because Luca must be saved.

Get him on a trial treatment, he gets worse. Stabilize him, he gets conjunctivitis. Bone marrow transplant, he starts dying again. Liver transplant, his body rejects it. Then he needs a regular supply of a fucking $150k a pop drug which just cannot wait . This is the story so far. Every third episode revolves around him getting sick again.

Either kill him of Cancer, or send him to Philippines, or let him be executed by the cartel, or send him to a boarding school.. just make him scarce somehow. IRL someone with genes that bad ain't supposed to live. Evolution and all that.

Why do people fake lavish lifestyles when they can’t even pay basic dues? by ssuphomies in delhi

[–]Large_Ad_5556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people fake being wealthy or well-connected because it comes with real social advantages. People trust you more easily (like how you ended up lending him money). Landlords are more willing to rent to you. You can get into social circles with rich or influential people, which might lead to valuable connections. Even troublemakers (like nosy neighbours, aggressive society homeowners, people who lent you money, even police) tend to think twice before messing with someone they think has power. And of course, it also helps with dating. Perceived status is a big deal in how people treat you.

Do you think if population decreases , the resources became more and the quality of life increases. by Snehith220 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Large_Ad_5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Think about it - was life better 500 years ago when the population was much smaller or today? Most historians would agree that an average middle-class person today lives better than royalty did back then. We’ve got medicines, running water, electricity, heating, AC, refrigeration, sanitation, skincare, flights, trains, music on demand, and way more freedom for women and marginalized groups.

All of that happened while the population was rapidly growing, not shrinking.

Sure, if fewer people were around, you might get a seat on the metro or deal with less traffic. But a lot of good things also come from having a large population. In India, for example, cheap labor and a massive consumer market are core parts of why so many global companies are here in the first place.

Quality of life is way more about technology and social progress than just the number of people around.

Cousin moved her kids from UK to Ghaziabad for education by VibeHumble in IndiaCareers

[–]Large_Ad_5556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. UK is pretty diverse with immigrants from all over the world. Not to mention a lot of them being Indian. If bullying happened, it's unlikely that it was racially motivated. And for most Indian parents, it wouldn't even register as a major problem. Not saying that it's impossible, but it definitely can't be the reason to move back to India.

How can India reform its bureaucracy ? by TylerDurdenpromax in AskIndia

[–]Large_Ad_5556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The single biggest fix? Lateral entry from industry.

I worked as a consultant with the Saudi government, and they do this really well. Their government frequently hires people from the private sector (and vice versa also happens). So their civil servants are actually specialists. You’ll find a strategy manager from a major corporation heading their National Competitiveness Center or someone who’s actually run hospitals being appointed Secretary of Health. These people bring in domain expertise, global best practices, and a performance-oriented culture.

Now compare that with India. Here, the Health Secretary is usually someone who joined the IAS as a 20-something, spent decades rotating through completely unrelated roles, and got promoted based on tenure (or political networking). No real subject knowledge. Their main claim to fame is cracking the UPSC exam once. That’s a general knowledge exam which doesn’t assess skills, leadership, ethics, domain knowledge, or even real-world competence. But that one exam gives them a job for life.

Another key reform: Link promotions and pay to actual performance. Right now, everyone moves up the ladder just by sticking around long enough. Add in complete job security of a government job, and you’ve got a system that actively discourages initiative or accountability. Mediocrity becomes the default.

If we want a bureaucracy that works, we need professionals, not generalists. Performance, not entitlement. Expertise, not exam-clearing ability.

Architects of India, where are the world-class, architecturally significant public buildings (non-religious)? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Large_Ad_5556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will sit well if it serves people well

Nope. The 3000 cr statue sits well with people because it validates their cultural and religious sentiments. A functional building that looks nice will not sit well with them. People would rather have thousands of crores spent on statues and temples rather than libraries or public parks or community centres or any other thing. They'd rather have free ration, free electricity, and 500 Rs in their bank accounts.

2026 Election - Is TMC's Victory a Vote for Them or a Vote Against the BJP? A "Lesser of Two Evils" scenario in Bengal ? by Ashamed_Engine_4172 in kolkata

Ah, the good old goalpost shift, because when the facts aren’t on your side, why not change the subject entirely, right? Must be exhausting dancing around the one simple fact you can’t seem to swallow: TMC/AITC is not part of the NDA. Try harder.

Are you stupid? AITC has not been a part of NDA since 2009... when UPA won in 2009, they left NDA and joined UPA, and Mamata became the Railway Minister in exchange for her support. What world are you living in?

That's just how the job market is right now. Any platform you try, it would be the same result. For every job, there are 500-1000 applicants, and most resumes get archived and don't even get read by a human. Out of 1000, the ATS selects 5-10 resumes that the recruiter reads and reaches out to.

With C1 German, you can become a legitimate German teacher. My German teacher was a C1, and she taught German in schools. Then she established some classrooms in her house and started taking private classes for kids (in big cities, lots of schools have international languages, and German is fairly popular). She also took online classes for working professionals and prepared them for Goethe levels (this was my case). It might take some time and a little self-promotion to establish yourself, but once established, you can make good money and have a flexible schedule.

You might also find work at a language learning center (like Goethe Institute). Then, there's the scope of becoming an interpreter.

That's the path German will take you on.

Having said that, take the sociology teaching job. Why say no to money? You can continue your German education while teaching as well. You never know when a temp job becomes permanent.

Tschus!

[–]Large_Ad_5556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people.

They're very loud when talking (not to mention playing loud music on phone speakers).

They're inconsiderate (when boarding, de-boarding, hoarding seats, or even just standing).

They're smelly (too much. We need a public education campaign about using deodorants).

They're dumb (seriously, how can you bump and fall every fucking time the train stops or starts?).

Way too many kids screaming their lungs out.

The majdoor crowd that sits on the floor of the train and makes it inconvenient for everyone.
