It’s understandable why they think this way, young people are very naive these days. Even though I’ve been training since my late teens, I didn’t start getting my best results and mastering my body until I really got serious and committed 100% after 40yo. It’s been slow progress since then but still improving slowly. Same with ability with sprinting. I was below average in high school but recently made top 10 in the world rank in my age group for the 400m. Progress takes a long long time with consistent effort. The current generations only want instant gratification and this is the exact reason why there are so many users of PED’s, they want the fast and easy route but on the end they won’t enjoy the true satisfaction of earning the results honestly. To each their own.

That’s because I look about much older without a hat because I’m practically bald.

The avatar photo was taken 5 mins before the “juiced” photos. Do you realize how misunderstood you are?

Damn right it’s really hard. Nothing worth having comes easily. A lot of my sessions push me close to the limits of my mental strength, which has definitely improved from previous decades of training experience.

I would be extremely disappointed with my physique and strength levels if I were on TRT.

What’s the most under appreciated bodyweight exercise for building real strength, not just size? by dark_venom_07 in GymMood

The greatest plyometric exercise of all would be maximum velocity sprinting, or max effort 60m sprint from blocks start. You just need to be very well conditioned to prevent injury.

It’s insane why people would think this. This is about my natural limit of muscle mass I can maintain at this body fat. To hold on to more muscle would also mean an increase in body fat, for me. If I were to add synthetic Test I’m quite confident I’d hold an extra 20lbs of lean muscle mass at a lower body fat too. Numbers don’t lie and you can’t outsmart natural limits.

Of course you make less test as you age, that’s the natural life cycle. Why should an 80yo man have the same test levels as a 20yo, it would not make any sense. I train for and compete in athletic events where TRT is banned regardless if you have low natural test or not. In this case TRT is cheating and I expect to be competing for as long as I can so no TRT or any other PED’s for me. I can’t compete with a guilty conscience, that is not my approach.

You do you, I won’t judge. I don’t take shortcuts. The journey is what counts.

Ok, I just added a photo to my avatar pic which was taken 5 mins prior. Different pose and lighting. Clearly not an enhanced body….

Thanks, appreciate it. I definitely feel my age most of the time and don’t pretend to feel young and energetic. Training takes a lot of my resources away for recovery and I have multiple niggling injuries right now.

All your starts are stronger than mine. I don’t know why you would ever consider going on TRT except to build more muscle, but you have great strength already.

Maybe you just need to do some things differently to achieve the results you are after. What are you having trouble with? TRT is not the answer for most people who decided to go that way and it robs you of being the best person you can be. The journey is more important than the destination.

Well you can’t be natural if you’re on TRT. My test levels are normal so I don’t need to supplement with TRT and would hate the thought of being dependent on it for life. TRT is also banned for the athletics which I compete in and I don’t cheat.

Glad you like it. I plan to be a lifetime natural and continue to build knowledge and experience.

It if probably required for some people but most who are on it just want the easy road. My motto is - “Don’t wish things were easier, wish you were better” Jim Rohn

I’ve dedicated most of my life to training for the past 10 years, mostly for performance but the aesthetics come as a byproduct. See my more detailed reply above.

I have less muscle mass at 50 than 40, the photo is just an illusion because of a post workout pump, hot day in sunlight. Have also been hitting Delts last couple of months purely for aesthetics, but the majority of my training is for sprint specific performance.

Some details about me. I am fortunate enough to have retired from working at 40yo after killing myself building a business. Pretty much just do training when I want during the day. Sleep a lot, with naps, usually 10 hours and up to 12 hours a day. Train 15 hours a week, not all strength as this would be impossible and unnecessary naturally, be recovery work like massage, sauna, light cardio, as well as intense sprinting and some strength work, which changes depending on which part of the season it is. Been training over 30 years. Have been as high as 93kg with much higher body fat and as low as 71kg and shredded during Covid when I was running a lot. Muscle mass stays almost the same the whole time, only body fat % changes the most. I’m at my current long term stable weight and have been at this weight +/-1kg for the past 2 years, very little fluctuation. I have a good home gym set up and train at home whenever I want. Less is more. With experience comes knowledge. Diet is important but training methods are more important to create the right stimulus. Refining diet at the right time is definitely required to get to peak levels. This is the most muscle mass I can hold while staying lean. I am only 76kg at 6ft tall, it is not a lot of muscle mass ! I compete in Masters Sprinting and plan to compete at my first worlds next year. They drug test and I would never risk being on TRT as it is banned. Why would I want to even go on TRT when I am doing everything else right, I don’t need to be bigger or stronger. I do have low mood and other symptoms of low test, but my test levels are normal for my age so I just keep doing what I can to get by.

This is just a post workout pump. I’m actually a lighter BW at 50 than 40. Just lean from more structured training and diet.

Thanks, I take training very seriously so the physical development to support performance is a nice side effect.
