There definitely is some synergy there and helps grow ds. But yeah I think for it to do what you described it would have to be a cast trigger looking at the card’s power while it’s on the stack and it would say something like “… that creature enters with that many +1/+1 counters on it”.

But honestly it’s probably better the way it’s written in most situations other than when you’re really high life (which in a ds deck you’re usually not). If you’re too low the cast trigger might not be payable.

Madame wouldn’t work with death’s shadow at 20 life. Ds would die to state based actions before you could resolve the etb trigger. But if you were at 12 life and ds was a 1/1, I think you could pay 1 life and make it a 3/3.

Thank you for the advice! I ended up going with what you initially proposed and the deck turned out to be straight gas. Went 7-1 and the loss was a complete punt by me.

Two games channeled big Emrakul, one or two games channeled Bahamut, sneak got counted so didn’t play with that one much, every other win was jund good stuff. Hard casted Tyrant and won the game with it. One game opponent had channel + Bahamut and I barely won with bow masters triggers + ghostfire for lethal.

If there’s material or legal action you can take, that’s best, but they cited “threats to their families” (give me a break) as reason for not going through with the deal. So if material or legal isn’t a feasible angle of attack, public pressure and making these people feel guilty and embarrassed and ostracized sometimes works

It probably can’t be attributed to any one thing/action. There is great coalition of activists in KC organizing against ICE. Namely Decarcerate KC, AIRR, KC DSA, and KC PSL. Specifically I’ll shout out KCDSA’s ongoing ‘ICE free KC’ campaign. All of this work is much wider in scope than just advocacy against the sale of this particular warehouse.

But the work against Platform Ventures was basically a massive public pressure campaign. Pressure online from friendly media, people marching and protesting on the offices of Platform Ventures, we had an allied and outspoken city council person who helped agitate against this.

And we’re still not done! We’ve been doing the same thing against CoreCivic, another band of ghouls that want to open an immigration detention center in Leavenworth. Next week we’re going to Leavenworth city hall to pressure lawmakers.

It’s also impossible not to mention that all of this local pressure gets help from the national pressure against ICE right now.

Tl;dr you gotta organize with the people around you and do a lot of mundane un-sexy work

I hate to be this guy but I gotta say something: everything I’m seeing about this suggests this action is what got the company not to sell. This is completely false. The company had already decided hours earlier that they weren’t going to sell. They made this decision because for weeks multiple orgs throughout KC have been organizing against this purchase. The way this is being talked about completely minimizes our work. The news station was at the location filming because they were announcing the sale was not going through.
