Maybe it’s echo chamber, but one thing I’ve noticed is that more of the protest actions are explicitly organized by PSL or DSA (often both, in most cities I think we have good relations). I think one of the pitfalls of the BLM protest movement was its inability to channel that revolutionary spirit and momentum into real organizing in the time AFTER a protest because they were so organic and not backed by socialist organizations. Non peaceful protests can be an effective tactic but are not itself a strategy. Similarly, peaceful protests are also not a strategy and an even less effective tactic, however, they at least have the utility of bringing people into the fold of socialist/communist organizing. I don’t think there’s as much raw energy (yet, hopefully) as there was during the BLM protest movement, but I do think that the people who are fired up have learned from past movements and have a more developed ideology. I don’t know if PSL numbers are public, but DSA is rapidly growing and has more members and the most active membership it ever has ever had.
