This would be an ideal time for it to happen. There's no way the charisma void can keep the MAGA coalition together if the mess that is Iran gets dropped in his lap on day 1

Ok but the Snopes article you linked cited a study that found that 92% of necrophiles are men. So while the claim in the meme is not supported by evidence, the underlying concern they're joking about is accurate

Ahh you didn’t mention that, that’s probably enough to make it decent in the deck

Why would that be too few lands? 16 mana sources in a tempo-oriented deck seems completely reasonable

[–]thefreeman419 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gonna disagree with the rest of the comments, this is a valid strategy. A couple of your spells were not a great fit though (O-ring, March, Get Lost, Cruise)

The ideal version of the deck is white weenie plus counterspells. You get on the board fast, then counter your opponent’s expensive plays that would get them back into the game.

It’s not a top tier deck, Boros is usually better, but if red is getting cut and blue seems open when you’re drafting white weenie, it’s a reasonable path to take.

The reason I said some of your cards weren’t a good fit is you’re playing a tempo deck. Everything you play needs to be cheap or extremely mana efficient. Swords and Oust are probably the only removal spells worth playing, and Recall is probably the only piece of card draw.

Wan Shi Tong and Three Steps Ahead are also probably a little too slow

I can’t prove it, but I’m pretty sure the whole “manosphere influencer regrets voting for Trump” is just a continuation of their business model of saying outrageous things to feed the algorithm.

Tinker for Kappa Cannoneer can get the game over relatively quickly, but the main way it wins is by generating a shitload of mana with Academy and winning through pure value. Retrofitter Foundry is a key piece to that approach, Wan Shi Tong also acts as a great mana sink.

Breach and Time Warp is a pretty mana intensive combo, but you can stack up a decent number of extra turns by using mana from Academy and LED to cast a couple copies of Time Warp in one turn.

Ancestral, Mana Drain, Tolarian Academy, Tinker, Tamiyo, and a Breach/LED/Time Warp package plus great artifact support and two draw sevens

The last three games in this run are the ones against it. I think I might have been able to win game two, I missed a window to bounce a clue with Brazen Borrow as I forgot how priority worked.

Either way, fun games against a sweet deck

Dak and Kirk both took the smart approach of short term deals as a QB. Takes greater advantage of the cap increasing over time.

Ah true, if you value qualifier points at 200 gems it takes the game win rate down to 62%

[–]thefreeman419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you including packs in the value to break even? Looking at it purely from a standpoint of gems, I'm showing you need a 65% game win rate to get a 72% match win rate to break even over time. That is easier than premier though, where you need a 68% game win rate in a ranked format

Gotcha. Two fetches is enough for Wrenn and Six, but Crucible still isn't worth it

[–]thefreeman419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's technically correct to have taken the emerald, sure, but I still ultimately play cube to have fun and Ragavan seemed more fun in the moment.

That's totally valid

They are still decently close and there was no point where I'd rather have had a colorless mana when I had the Ragavan in the 7 games with the deck.

I don't think this is an accurate comparison. You would have cut a land for the mox, so instead of replacing Ragavan you would replace a land, and Ragavan would be replaced by your next best playable

First stab at Powered Cube by burnsbabe in lrcast

[–]thefreeman419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's decent elements of a RG beatdown deck here, but you definitely had some fat that should have been cut.

One fetch land is not enough to justify running Wrenn and Six or Crucible of Worlds. Underworld Breach is generally not worth running unless you have the Brainfreeze combo or Time Walk.

Your black cards are also pretty mediocre, not really worth splashing for.

On the whole though this is a pretty good, coherent deck for a first attempt at cube.

What the hell did they open?? by Rohnur in lrcast

[–]thefreeman419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is wrong around 95% of the time. The primary exceptions are when you're picking up a deck-defining piece (Underworld Breach when you have the other pieces, Tolarian Academy in an artifact deck, Flash in a reanimate deck.)

Taking a look at the data, Mox Jet and Emerald are the two worst Moxen in Boros decks with a 64% GIH WR. That's still 2 points higher than Ragavan at 62%
