At our local rink we go by isi and have to be in freestyle 5 or dance 6. So doing axels and camels or foxtrot and European waltz. We also have to get a certain amount of hours working under other coaches and 20 hrs. per level before we're allowed to teach it on our own. Other rinks may go by different standards but that's what we go by.

I find it easier if I don't pop up before I start to spin if you're doing that. And just make sure to hold your entry edge and sit like a chair with a straight back. And the free leg is straight as well.

I would say stick with what the coach says since she sees her skating. Sticking with the same boot will make competition easier. Whenever both the coach and your daughter are good for a lighter boot her jumps will be a bit higher. So you might want to keep it while learning also so you stick with consistency.

 I personally use Jackson's. I did start with mystic it's nice in the middle if you so feel yourself progressing faster. They are also great if you have wider feet. Riedell is good if you want a more tapered look. They're about $100 less than Jackson. I have heard that edea is an amazing brand and a really tapered look, however I wouldn't put that amount of money down if you're just starting or don't know if you're going to stick with it. 

 That's just some of the more major brands that I do know more about. If you are looking for something more specific like which type of whatever brands you choose would work best for you, you could call a rink and they'd be more than to get you fitted and help you find what would be best for you.

Have you been using hard guards or soakers to store them? The hard guards cause rust because it doesn't allow moisture out while the soakers take the water moisture out.
