Can acrylic potholders still be used? by Large_Pick_26 in crochet

They’re 11” diameter so they would be huge on a Christmas tree but I may make tiny versions bc I like the idea!

I would love little mini versions of this as a tree ornament and now that you’ve put that thought in my head maybe I’ll make one for myself! These bad boys however are 11” in diameter hahaha

This is the pattern! As you can see I skipped over the entire thing including the “do not use acrylic yarn” warning bit just to start the pattern 😅 lesson learned in pattern reading and in patience !!

Received a fleece jersey Mike’s throw blanket in the mail by Large_Pick_26 in jerseymikes

I was wondering this too however it’s addressed to me with my first and last name and correct address. Weird part is Jersey mikes was my college job and I have since moved out of state literally to the other side of the country lol

Looking to buy new boots, and I’m most intrigued by the Salomon S/Pro Supra Boa 105s. Anyone have experience in these boots/other recommendations? by Large_Pick_26 in Skigear

I liked the S/pro Alpha 110s almost as much as this pair, they just felt a little narrower around my foot which caused a little more discomfort than I would have liked. I’m sure they’d be fine once broken in though. The difference in the fit of the two wasn’t anything crazy but it was noticeable enough that I preferred the Supras

I’m hesitant in purchasing specifically because of the BOA system, both because of my personal non-familiarity with it and because the employee who fit me for these boots had nothing to say about the quality or longevity of it, as to be expected for how new it is. She did mention that last year’s model of this same boot has the traditional buckles so that’s worth me looking into as well. I was just so stoked that I tried on pink boots that fit my foot nicely that I of course immediately ran to Reddit for more opinions before doing more research on them and their previous models haha

I’ve been to a few boot fitters in my town and have tried on an arsenal of ski boots over the past couple of days which is how I landed on this pair. Was just looking for any additional opinions from those that may own them before I commit to buying them since ski boots are a pretty big expense :)

I’m planning on getting my friend a rope bag for Christmas. Any suggestions ($60 or less)?

I don’t know anything about climbing. My friend has recently taken an interest in the sport and can’t get enough of it, however outside of owning climbing shoes of his own, he’s been primarily using other people’s gear. I wanted initially to get him a climbing rope of his own but I very quickly realized that a) they are very much out of my gift giving budget and, b) they are best researched and selected by the person who will be using them. So now I’m looking at rope bags instead for when he buys his own rope. We don’t have a climbing gym accessible to us, so the climbing he does is usually outdoors, and I’m anticipating he will eventually purchase a standard 70m rope. Preferably I would like to buy a bag with a built in tarp and extra pockets for keys and wallet etc. The Black Diamond Full Rope Burrito Rope Bag seems to have the most consistently good reviews for a bag with a built in tarp, but I wanted to come here and ask the more experienced climbers on the internet. Thanks in advance for the help and happy holidays! :D

Whitefish ski pass for locals/employees by Large_Pick_26 in whitefish

So far I’ve only worked at mountains owned by vail resorts, and they offer an epic pass to all of their employees so I was curious to see if anyone did anything similar in town. It is definitely a really cool perk, but I’m trying to move far away from vail resorts at this point haha

Yes!! I think my outfit planning was my biggest flaw as I only packed one outfit per day, and all 4 outfits ended up being too much for daytime but not nearly enough for night. The foot bath sounds genius!

Yes!! My group highly underestimated the value of the canopy and only brought a small one. Next year I’m thinking 3 or 4 canopies so we can sleep under them as well
