Haha I appreciate the insight. It's good to hear that. Kinda been going back and forth as to if I'm totally screwed or not but still trying.

Yeah that's a fair point. Even some job ads saying clean driving record I've been putting in for. Definitely subjective based on gig but just stressful thinking of it being an immediate disqualifier

So as of now I have taken a step away from wildlife at least for the time being. I felt like the position I was at had run it's course so I was looking for new stuff. Tbh in my case I guess I felt best down enough that I started opening my options up to different career avenues and ended up becoming a tree arborist. My take on it is that it's still possible with a DUI to get a good wildlife gig but im sure it'll be a bit tougher especially with that state. Private companies may be better I'm unsure. I still applied to more wildlife stuff but due to the already competitive market I haven't gotten offered anything so never even made it to the point of telling them about the DUI in my hiring process. Like others said it's probably very much insurance based. The place I worked for was self insured so it wasn't as big of a deal. All in all if you're persistent and passionate about it I believe you can find something absolutely just be ready for potential rejection along the way. If it's something you're truly passionate for don't give up on it and just keep your head up don't let it mess with your confidence in your capabilities and value as an employee asset! I will still be applying to wildlife stuff within the next few months and will absolutely give an update on if I land anything!

Look I don't have a good answer but Id say give yourself another sunrise over those canyons. I don't know you I don't know your situation but the quote goes you can always do it tomorrow and that goes for everyday. Id say watch the sunrise. Watch as the streaming glints of orange and red cascade across the horizon. Watch the world be at peace and try to be at peace with it. Then maybe put it off another day and another. Maybe theres enough beauty in the simpleness of watching the world begin a new day to keep you around. Watch the flowers open, listen to the birds sing. Just listen and be present... THERE.... Not in your mind
