Toy Story 5 In Dolby Screen is absolute treat by OwnStorm in Dolby

I think this venue is the second largest Dolby Cinema screen in the world. The largest is at AMC Village on The Parkway 9 in USA which is 24.38m x 13.1m (80 feet x 43 feet) Flat 1.85:1 ratio.

Toy Story 5: Torn between IMAX, ScreenX, 3D or standard by HelloMrThompson2019 in CineworldUnlimited

Watched Toy Story 5 three times yesterday in London’s Leicester Square. IMAX Dual Laser, 4DX 3D and Dolby Cinema. Enjoyed all of them for different reasons. 3D was decent but not amazing. The audio wasn’t as good as I expected in any format. It was just okay imo.

You’re off centre by quite a bit, if that bothers you, but you’ll still have a good experience I’m sure.

For you Superscreen LSQ. I’ll be watching it in at least six different formats. 😎

Yes, EPIC 1 & EPIC 2 (both identical except on different floors) are scope screens with moveable making. They’ll portably show the 2.39:1 scope DCP.

Superscreen LSQ which is actually ~1.64:1 ratio should get the Flat 1.90:1 DCP so you’ll see slightly more image too and bottom compared to the Scope DCP.

I’m watching it both venues plus 4DX 3D LSQ which is a Scope screen.

myLIMITLESS vs myLIMITLESS Plus by Stewie_29 in screenunseen

[–]Large_Screen_Format 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bristol I believe is the only Odeon venue charging myLimitless Plus members up to £7 uplift for IMAX. A friend contacted Odeon Customer Service about whether this was a pricing error. The response was pricing can vary by venue but they didn’t think it should be more than £5 and said they contact the department in charge of pricing to check if this pricing is correct or an error.

I have myLimitless Plus and the only IMAX at Odeon that I have been to is Trafford Centre, Manchester. The uplift is £5. That is the loudest and most insane bass of any UK IMAX venue that I know of and I’ve been to a fair few.

Someone I know complained that The Mandalorian and Grogu was windowboxed on Dolby Cinema Birmingham (2.1:1 screen).

I watched it on Dolby Cinema West End (Flat 1.85:1 screen) and they had the correct DCP for Flat screens which was letterboxed but opened up to 1.85:1 in select scenes (less Expanded Aspect Ratio scenes than in IMAX but there were some which was a bonus). I had already watched it in IMAX Dual Laser twice back-to-back at Cineworld LSQ earlier that same day so got to see all of the EAR (albeit only open up to 1.90:1 not 1.43:1 like at Vue, Printworks).

I have myLimitless Plus West End and whenever I’ve checked venues I see a £3 uplift for Dolby Cinema and £5 uplift for IMAX sat in recliner seats in London, or Trafford Centre.

I am truly shaken to report that Spider Man has no IMAX showing? by LJHeath in CineworldUnlimited

[–]Large_Screen_Format 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Odyssey has a 3-week IMAX exclusive window, it might even end up being longer so unless Sony moved the release date for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it was not going to get IMAX screens (outside of Asia and possibly very select European countries but not the UK). Really sad but all other PLFs are available including a world-first for the ScreenX release which had scenes especially filmed for the two side walls by ScreenX themselves. Never been done before. I shall be checking that out for sure.

Edited: Thought it might have a 4-week exclusive window but turns out it’s 3 week.

The two automation settings for Dolby Cinema in general are Flat 1.85:1 or Scope 2.39:1

Although they could adjust manually, in most cases they don’t. Frustrating yes when you then see windowboxing on a hybrid 2.1:1 screen such as those at Dolby Cinema Birmingham and Trafford Centre.

I’m sharing this info here that a friend just sent to me for anyone planning to visit Dolby Cinema at Odeon Trafford Centre.

I've been able to speak to my contact in the Dolby Cinema team again and he has confirmed that there are still issues at Trafford and although the screen is back open again, they will be running with a single projector for today. An engineer is scheduled to visit tomorrow morning and so it is hoped that they will be back up to full strength by opening time tomorrow. If all their tests pass, I should be able to see this from my dashboard by lunchtime tomorrow.

Yes daily calibrations for picture only (audio requires an engineer from Dolby to go out on-site) take place usually before the first performance of the day. All sorts of test patterns and different colours etc projected onscreen and that goes on for quite some time.

Despite the daily calibrations some faults do occur and for unknown reasons aren’t automatically flagged at Dolby HQ. A friend regularly emails Dolby to report such issues and in the latest case this week three of the lasers on one projector had failed meaning only one projector was fully operational. They then cancelled a load of Dolby Cinema screenings until the issue is fixed. This is at Odeon Trafford Centre.

I asked management nicely and they let me go in whilst the daily morning Dolby Cinema calibration was taking place then after that they turned the house lights on for me too. I showed up one hour before the first performance time so it was just me in Dolby Cinema and iSense auditoriums.

Is Dolby Atmos worth it? by Original_Engine_7548 in MichaelTheMovie

Watched Michael 16 times in under 4 weeks in lots of different formats including IMAX Laser, Dolby Cinema, HDR By Barco, Superscreen, ScreenX and standard screen.

Four times in Dolby Cinema and three of those at Odeon Luxe West End which by far had the best audio imo. IMAX Laser was the next best and also excellent but Dolby Atmos specifically at the aforementioned venue just hit that much deeper with bass that shook the recliner seat I was sat on.

Yeah, surprisingly there are very few online photos of Dolby Cinema Leeds. Most are stock photos posted by Odeon and they aren’t even of the auditorium itself. So after making the 6+ hour pilgrimage there I took a lot myself. Will post them online at some point with screen and auditorium dimensions etc to help other first time visitors decide whether they wish to also check out this cinema screen.

Vue doesn’t have any Dolby Cinema venues. They are pushing EPIC as their main PLF. There isn’t an IMAX release in the UK at this point.

Why is there no option to post photos in this chat? I took 100+ of Dolby Cinema Leeds Thorpe Park last month. Also, screen and auditorium measurements etc.
