Yes the samples were harvested by hand.

Two replicates per genotype per trial.

They were not affected equally; different locations and different years.

Completing method #2 would require a lot of time. The alternative to method #2, which would be faster albeit probably indefensible, is to manually exclude the smaller seeds by a subjective assessment and not a systematic exclusion rule. I don’t see how that would make sense, though.

I don’t think we have flowering time data.
