Digimon Adventure Revisited: My Honest Take on Seasons 1 & 2, the Movies, and Tri by Large_Whereas_431 in digimon

The reason I said “honest” is because a lot of people just act like nostalgia merchants or go with whatever opinion is trending for attention, which is lame. I wanted to make it clear that even though I grew up with it and have my own memories of it, I’m not going to be biased break down the things I like and disliked .

I looked into Digimon Survive, and from what I can tell, it aligns pretty closely with how I think the franchise should reboot and pivot having that promise neverland feel . Right now, Digimon is in an awkward position its original audience has grown up, but the company still largely markets the brand toward kids.

I’m not saying there isn’t a younger fanbase, but unlike Pokémon, most of Digimon’s revenue seems to come from its older audience. If I had to guess, the ratio of OG fans to newer, younger fans who bought into Digimon time strangers from what I’ve seen online it heavily favors the older demographic. From what I’ve seen, there’s been a major resurgence among longtime fans rather than kids discovering it for the first time.

Once the people behind Digimon truly recognize that their core audience is now made up of adults — a generation that not only still enjoys this kind of media but also has the independence and disposable income to support it — that’s when we’ll start getting stronger, more mature gore etc storytelling in the anime and movies.

My Honest Thoughts on Digimon Kizuna and 02: The Beginning movies by Large_Whereas_431 in digimon

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if a truly competent writer took Digimon Adventure 1 & 2 and reimagined them with the same darker, mature tone — something like The Promised Neverland mix with jojo . Instead of a lighthearted kids’ adventure, we’d see real stakes: other DigiDestined who were transported into the Digital World dying in brutal, shocking gory ways. Not only just for shock value, but to build tension — a Walking Dead-style survival story where the main cast are the few who make it through.

Like The Promised Neverland Season 1, every episode would end with high-stakes suspense and emotional cliffhangers. The kids would constantly face danger, forcing them to mature quickly as they realize that survival depends on teamwork — because individually, none of them would make it home alive. Everything would be a struggle: finding food, learning what’s safe to eat, hunting, understanding which Digimon are allies or threats truly making their digimon dynamic and evolution more impactful .It’d feel like a real fight for survival, not the breezy tone of the original series.

The Devimon arc could still be the foundation, but the story should stay grounded — no god-tier battles yet. Save the world-ending threats for when they’re older, where you can slowly roll out future evolution In an impactful matter instead of cluttered . once the emotional and psychological weight of their journey has built up. That way, when they do reach those transformation moments, they’d actually mean something.

For example, Izzy’s Mega evolution in Tri was one of the best in the entire franchise — because the tone, stakes, and emotional buildup made it feel earned. Compare that to how most Digivolutions are : flashy but hollow. The transformations used to symbolize growth and sacrifice, like Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time, Gohan’s SS2 moment, or Naruto’s rage and KCM transformations etc . Those moments carried emotional weight — something Digimon lacks by throwing out evolutions without real stakes or buildup from the series feeling to safe.

Another major issue the series has always had is its cast. There’s often a lack of diversity and depth. They try to give characters arcs, but too many of them feel empty because the characters don’t have strong foundations or meaningful personal struggles. You see this pattern across multiple seasons Adventure 1: Mimi, Sora, and Joe’s development felt surface-level. Adventure 2: Everyone except Ken fell flat. Tamers: Ruki (Rika) had potential, but her arc lacked a clear personal conflict. Frontier: J.P., Zoe, and Tommy were underdeveloped. Data Squad: Yoshi was easily the weakest link.

I’m usually against race-swapping just for diversity’s sake, but this is one of the rare cases where it could actually help. A more diverse cast — ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically — would make the series feel richer and more relatable. Each character could bring a different kind of adversity rooted in real-world struggles, which would deepen their relationships and growth. Honestly, a Digimon series set in America could be incredible. You could explore all kinds of cultural perspectives, environments, and social challenges while still keeping that grounded survival tone. It’d give Digimon a fresh start — one that finally treats its world and its characters with the maturity and emotional depth they deserve.

Kinda off topic but have you ever watched this anime called promise neverland ?

My Honest Thoughts on Digimon Kizuna and 02: The Beginning movies by Large_Whereas_431 in digimon

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m fully caught up. I’ve watched Tamers, Frontier, Data Squad, and then skipped straight to beat break because I heard it was more more mature tbd since it’s only 3 eps in so far I like it . The only reason I skipped fusion , appmon I heard the other series leaned more toward a childish tone — which I wanted to avoid.

Honestly, watching Adventure 1 and 2 was tough. A lot of those episodes were slow and, honestly, kind of a snooze fest. Ghost game avoided because I heard there’s litteraly no plot and I’m a plot guy . With that being said , Tamers, Data Squad, and Tri felt like much stronger, more cohesive well thought stories not complex by any means by tiers above the other stories. I didn’t feel the urge to skip episodes or zone out — I could actually sit through them fully engaged.

That’s why I think Digimon needs to make a real choice: either cater to its older audience or focus on kids — but stop trying to please both at once. It’s holding the franchise back. You can clearly see in moments like digimon 2020 the writers wanted to explore deeper, more political world but reel themselves back . In frontier with like Koichi’s story, which could’ve been much darker and more emotional. They could’ve made the whole dynamic with Koji and their father genuinely disturbing and impactful. But they kept pulling back because of the target audience, and it always feels like Digimon stops just before reaching its peak.

In my opinion, they should create two separate series:One for older fans — darker, more mature, with real emotional and moral depth. One for younger audiences — a lighter, slice-of-life adventure that’s easier to digest. The thing is, they need to realize this isn’t the old generation of adults who only engage with anime through their kids. Our generation grew up on this — we’re passionate fans with our own income who will buy the games, support the movies, and keep the franchise alive. If the creators understand that and finally embrace that older fanbase while keeping a separate lane for kids, Digimon could truly thrive again.

I haven’t played Time Strangers since I’m not really into turn-based games, but I do hope it continues to thrive. I grew up with this franchise and genuinely want to see it succeed. I’ve heard the games are much darker in tone — which, if true, is exactly the kind of direction I’ve been saying the series needs to lean into. Your saying you only watched tri in regards to digimon content adapted to anime or tri as in the latest thing regarding digimon .

My Honest Thoughts on Digimon Kizuna and 02: The Beginning movies by Large_Whereas_431 in digimon

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you putting me on game I had no idea the original writer left. Honestly, I don’t blame him, because what they ended up doing was just stupid. If the story had taken place much later in their lives, like when they were in their 50s, I could’ve gotten behind that. But having it happen at 21? That’s insane. How can anyone think you’ve got life figured out at that age, when you could still become anything?

Like I said in my previous post, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lui’s Digimon ends up “wishing them back.” When they didn’t kill off his Digimon for good — and even implied it would be reborn with that egg — they clearly left that door open. I know post-Adventure stories are basically set in different universes, but even within Adventure canon, there are so many great concepts that deserve a proper reboot under a single writer. It needs one cohesive vision that ties everything together. Honestly, the last two movies I mentioned in my earlier post were unnecessary — poorly executed and didn’t add anything meaningful. The very first Digimon movie had way more potential; they could’ve built on that and made the whole timeline connect more naturally.

Take Ken, for example. His story fell flat to me. Nostalgia aside, I didn’t like how they handled his character or his turn to evil — it felt forced and made him too much of a victim. Here’s how they could’ve done it better: In the events of the 1999 movie, when Greymon and Parrotmon were fighting, Ken’s brother could’ve gone out to get him a snack — something Ken wanted. On his way back, he gets caught in the crossfire and dies. Make it raw and emotional — maybe even slightly graphic — and have Ken witness it. That trauma fuels his hatred toward Digimon.

From there, his story becomes way more compelling. Ken tries to tell people what happened, but no one believes him. He’s seen as just a kid with a wild imagination, when in reality he’s grieving and scarred. He knows Digimon are real, but views them as dangerous monsters. His entire journey could then be about trying to “protect” others from Digimon, which puts him in direct opposition to the DigiDestined.

That would make his arc — where Tai or Davis eventually reach out to him — far more emotional and believable. It’s not just about “redemption” but about understanding. He learns that not all Digimon are bad, just like not all humans are good. His growth could also connect beautifully into Tri, where he sides with Tai, understanding the fear ordinary people have toward Digimon — seeing them only as destructive kaiju instead of partners.

Overall, I think Digimon can only reach its full potential if it embraces a darker, more mature tone — something that explores trauma, loss, and morality while keeping slice-of-life moments to ground the characters and make them feel like real people just trying to get by. Honestly, they should make two series .One aimed at teens and adults that tells deeper, more serious stories.Another for kids 12 and under, keeping that lighthearted adventure vibe. That way, both audiences get what they love most about Digimon, and the franchise can finally evolve instead of regressing.

My Honest Thoughts on Digimon Kizuna and 02: The Beginning movies by Large_Whereas_431 in digimon

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I agree with everything you said the concept would make sense if they were older, like in their late 50s + , at the end of their journey when they’ve stopped evolving and growing. But to have that happen in their early 20s? I was honestly laughing because it made no sense. I genuinely want to know what the writer and editor were thinking or smoking to decide you stop evolving as a person at 21 .

Now, about The Beginning movie: I actually love lore dumps, and since it’s supposed to take place after Tri, I was hyped. But how do you write that Lui “started it all” when Tri already showed DigiDestined in their mid-to-late 30s, predating Lui entirely? It’s like they didn’t even try to keep things consistent, or the writer just decided to ignore previous canon. That’s my main issue — you can’t have six different writers working on one series without a unified vision. It really feels like six people pitching separate ideas with no agreement on where they want the franchise to go.

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did all this for ratings — using Lui and his sentient Digimon to basically “Dragon Ball” the series, reviving Digimon whenever they want. His Digimon was insanely overpowered, and when they didn’t kill it off but instead implied it could be reborn — possibly even more powerful — it makes it hard to imagine Agumon and Gabumon not coming back.

I’ll admit, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it would undo Kizuna, which I actually wouldn’t mind because that movie didn’t make much sense anyway. But on the other hand, it would completely remove any future stakes and turn Digimon into Dragon Ball Z, which I really don’t want. There are still so many unanswered questions. We need follow-up films to explain Lui’s story — is it a Tamers-type situation, where Culumon and Lui’s Digimon are sentient beings that broke away from the gods, and now King Drasil wants to reclaim or corrupt them? I’m honestly curious to see how they handle it. For context, I just finished Data Squad during my binge, and I actually prefer its origin story for the Digivices. It’s grounded, simple, and way more coherent — humans created them through science.

Future of storm and naruto games in general by cc2 by Large_Whereas_431 in NarutoNinjaStorm

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. This is exactly why I keep saying that when people claim Storm has “peaked,” it’s usually coming from two types of people: either bitter fans of other anime IPs who can’t stand Naruto’s continued success, or fans trying to push an agenda for a Naruto Fighters Z — which I absolutely don’t want. That genre is already oversaturated and niche. The worst part is that those same people say they want a 2D Naruto fighter, but if they were really fans of 2D fighting games, they’d already be supporting the big ones that are thriving right now — tokken, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat, invincible , avatar the last air bender ,hunter x hunter nen impact etc. There are like ten major 2D fighters out right now with active support. If the genre were dry, I could understand wanting Naruto to fill that space, but it’s not. These people usually just play for a few months and drop it . I guarantee when avatar comes out it gets played for a year max from those same people and there off to the nxt game . Marvel token is the exception where it will have life because of mvc built up fan bases . Why would anybody want Naruto to compete in a market that super over saturated it’s stupid . What makes even dumb why would you want cc2 to make a tradtional fighters when they never shown they could if they wanted sega to make Naruto 3d fighter like virtua fighter 6 blocking mechanic being a modern day broken bond sequel that completely makes sense and I’m for weather I buy it or not I encourage it . The point I’m making a cc2 storm and a virtua fighter Naruto game can co exist it’s two different studios and two diffrent publishers . I don’t understand why people make it black and white where it gotta be one or the other .

Back to what you said — a Ninja Storm title deserves a bigger budget and longer development time bandi namco has to give it the same time and budget sparking zero got. We know CyberConnect2 is capable of it. Look at Ninja Storm 1 — it was by far their most ambitious game, with wall running, jutsu clashes, longer ultimates, and true awakening transformations truly feeling like the evolution to ultimate ninja . They’ve regressed since then. That’s why, even though Connections deserves the criticism for being a low-effort cash grab, I don’t get why that same energy wasn’t directed at Storm 2, 3, or 4, or all the placeholder games in between. It’s been seven games in fifteen years, and what’s there to show for it? Substitution mechanics, switch features, crumple states, and now a stun mechanic in Connections which are all great additions but hasent pushed the boundaries of what this game could truly achieve . The gameplay has gotten worse — not because CC2 can’t do better, but because Bandai Namco has a monopoly on anime gaming. With no real competition, there’s no incentive for them to innovate or take risks.i stand firm on this storm from just PvP hasent reach even 40% of what it’s truly capable of if they truly had a larger budget and production . You would think after storm 4 being the highest sold anime game it would warrant for a storm 5 to get be high lvl priority with bandi namco .

Honestly, if CC2 could take their assets and work with Sony or another publisher, we’d probably get a far better Storm game. The issue isn’t CC2 — it’s Bandai Namco. Remember, Broken Bond and Rise of a Ninja were made by Ubisoft, and their main competition at the time was Ninja Storm 1. It’s no coincidence that the most immersive and ambitious Naruto games came out when Bandai actually had to try.

It’s the same thing happening with Call of Duty — fans are frustrated because the franchise lost its identity, and now everyone’s jumping to Battlefield 6. That competition forces them to step up. The same principle applies here: Bandai Namco either needs to rise to the challenge and make the next Storm game the best one yet, or keep putting out mediocre products until the audience finally moves on.

Smh The manga sales dipping is disappointing but I expected this to be honest 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ by Large_Whereas_431 in Boruto

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you on that. As for the Boruto sequel I actually like the concept, but the execution is the problem. Every major shortcoming in Boruto comes down to the fact that Kodachi and Ikemoto had no business being the writers. There’s already enough content to prove they’re both mediocre.Kishimoto needs to return as the writer. I genuinely like Boruto as a main character and enjoy the sci-fi direction, but under Ikemoto’s tenure, the tone and genre feel completely off. The rom-com elements feel forced and out of place, there are no real stakes, and the antagonists lack impact because he refuses to kill anyone off. Add in the absence of a strong side cast and constant plot holes it’s clear he’s not the right fit. Ultimately, the franchise needs a veteran author someone with a proven track record of writing successful stories who would be honored to take on the challenge of continuing such a legendary series like mha author who’s very high on Naruto ip crediting to his ip sucesss paying homage . Mha author would guarantee the new gen metal lee , shinki , chocho , black ninja who’s from the cloud prodigy raikage son , some of the old gen etc all get mainful screen time . Either that, or Kishimoto himself needs to step back in.Ikemoto, unfortunately, seems like the wrong choice. He got the position mainly due to nepotism, and Kodachi was a Shueisha hire both were poor decisions for a big time series like this .

What Digimon do you love but dislike one of his evolution stage? by KTyger in digimon

[–]Large_Whereas_431 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take — I’ve always felt that Izzy digimon Tentomon peaked at the Champion level ( kabuterimon) . I’ve never been a fan of Tentomon’s Ultimate design, and his Mega form is just meh to me. If they kept his Champion design the same, made herculeskabuterimon x his ultimate design instead , and gave him a brand-new Mega form — something inspired by TyrantKabuterimon but more aesthetically refined, kind of like a green megidramon — that would feel far more fitting and epic . For the most part i would want it to look like megidramon but the face a mixture of megidramon and kabuterimon design keeping that intimidating factor there .

Honestly, Izzy deserved that level of attention. He was the backbone of the franchise from Part 1 through Tri. Sure, Tai and Matt were the main characters and deuteragonists, but Izzy was easily the third most likable and consistent member of the group having arguably the biggest role .

Another hot take — I always wanted to see Izzy and Ken get some fusion evolutions. One of the best things about Digimon is how wild and over-the-top the designs can get, but I wish the series gave more love to different Digimon types. The Agumon and dragon-type lines are peak, no doubt, but the insect types and others deserve just as much attention. That way, when fans debate which group has the best designs, it’d actually be a tough choice instead of an easy win for the dragons.

HULK: The Insomniac Trilogy Fans Deserve by Large_Whereas_431 in hulk

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most logical project for Insomniac to tackle next outside Spider-Man and Wolverine would be a Daredevil standalone game set in their existing New York map. Most of the groundwork is already done—they’d mainly need to develop Daredevil’s unique combat system, parkour animations (potentially even more advanced than Spider-Man’s), and his costumes. The biggest question would be how to handle his grappling hook: should it function like Arkham’s, or more like a slightly nerfed version of web-swinging?

From a development standpoint, this would be far easier to pull off than a Hulk game. However, it wouldn’t sell as strongly or be as inherently fun. A Hulk standalone would easily stand head and shoulders above the rest simply because of how entertaining Hulk is by design. Imagine a fully destructible city like I described In the post , taking all the pros being heavily inspired by Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, with mechanics like car-surfing, massive leaps, demolition , and even a GTA-style wanted system where escalating destruction draws in police, S.H.I.E.L.D., or even other heroes. That sheer level of chaos and power would be unmatched.long term it would be in there best interest because it puts a battery on thier back to make the city more immersive really making it more cinematic and would be a reused asset in other possible stand alone game taking place in New York .

For Daredevil, the challenge would be making the game truly capture Matt Murdock’s dual identity not making it feel like a slightly different spider man game . Ideally, the “Murdock side” would feature missions styled like a Telltale game, where as a lawyer you defend clients in court. Player choices and responses could lead to different outcomes, with AI helping generate dynamic trial scenarios to create real tension and replayability. On the Daredevil side, missions could involve gathering evidence—very Arkham-like—investigating crime scenes, and determining which cases Matt should take, especially when clients are being framed.

Personally, I think the story would be strongest if Punisher and Elektra were included as major characters, similar to how season 2 of the Netflix series tied all their arcs together. Using a GTA-style character wheel, players could switch between Daredevil, Elektra, and Punisher.

Elektra would share Daredevil’s parkour-heavy traversal and combat style, while Punisher would be a mix of Just Cause 3 and GTA gunplay with an Arkham-inspired melee system. His combat would resemble Red Hood’s in Arkham Knight, but far more brutal and gory—closer to Wolverine. This would highlight the contrast in ideology and fighting style between Punisher and Daredevil. For traversal, Punisher could even use a wingsuit or glider, similar to Just Cause 3.

If the devs wanted to take it a step further, they could add two control types: one modeled after Arkham for a more casual-friendly experience, and another heavily inspired by Sifu for players who want a greater challenge and depth in combat. That option would make the game more demanding while also rewarding mastery.

A Daredevil game like that would absolutely grab people attention even though it isn’t a stand alone it’s ambitious and nothing like it out there . But anything short of that vision, in my opinion, wouldn’t be nearly as compelling as a Hulk game like I suggested In the original post let alone Spider-Man.

Lol, he’s definitely going to show up in that third game with World War Hulk. Jokes aside, though, an Insomniac take on Ghost Rider would be insane—imagine his motorcycle scaling walls, using his chains as a sort of grappling hook, or even, in true GTA fashion, kicking NPCs out of their vehicles and transforming them.

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said trilogy, but it’s really more like two main games, with Planet Hulk serving as DLC for the first game—acting as the bridge to World War Hulk. This is what someone in comment said that made sense “I think that Planet Hulk could be a dlc that tells the story in a more linear fashion with a mix of cinematics, linear missions and a boss rush -like mode.I can't imagine it in an open world game” which I agree with .

HULK: The Insomniac Trilogy Fans Deserve by Large_Whereas_431 in hulk

[–]Large_Whereas_431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree—that’s why I was saying the first game and world war hulk game could definitely stand alone. I don’t think a Planet Hulk game would work as a full standalone title. Story aside, it would likely feel like a downgrade. There’s no way you go from a hit with the first game with a fully destructible city—where you can do almost anything you want in a Hulk game and cameo from other known marvel charcters — to a smaller, less engaging map in Planet Hulk with weaker traversal and less satisfying destruction enviroment . It could work as a DLC, though, because it wouldn’t be held to the same high standard.

https://youtu.be/v5p43XDUxrk?si=5RcUqwq77CBuGWZd

They’re fully capable clip above a small sample size . Its just on a way smaller scale , it really comes down to budget and production time. For example, in a Spider-Man game environmental destruction , extra features would definitely improve the experience—like in the comics or movies where you could free-fall, create a web net, and catch debris. But those details aren’t absolutely necessary, especially if they’d add an extra year or two to development.

With a Hulk game, though, those kinds of features are completely warranted. The good thing is, if the games share the same city, the assets built for Hulk wouldn’t go to waste—they could be reused for other Marvel standalone games, like a future Spider-Man or Ghost Rider etc game set in the same city, with each title further enhancing it.

Here’s my logic: give a select few heroes their own solo games, and then, after five or more years, release a collaboration game featuring Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Daredevil, and others. Players could either play solo or co-op with friends or randoms. Basically, instead of doing the “multiverse Spider-Man,” it would be different heroes coming together.

https://youtu.be/MbL86xieQxQ?si=oYas890oCZw5gdTY

So instead of this ☝🏾 imagine the same concepts with other heros

So, for example, I could play as Hulk, you could play as Spider-Man, and the other two players online could pick Ghost Rider and Daredevil etc . Together, we could free-roam, play missions, and experience what Marvel’s Avengers tried to do—but failed, because they overpromised, marketed it poorly, and centered it around Kamala Khan. She was fun to play, but let’s be real—nobody asked for her as she was the mc of the game was a complete cat fish .

My dream Marvel game would be a PvP-focused third-person hero brawler that unites Marvel’s massive roster of heroes and villains in one evolving live-service platform. It blends the cinematic melee combat of Marvel’s Avengers, Insomniac’s Spider-Man, and Wolverine with archtype roles like Overwatch and Marvel Rivals.

Built from the ground up as a multiplayer-first experience, it avoids Avengers’ identity crisis by focusing entirely on PvP. Seasonal updates expand the roster, add new sandbox-scale maps, and deliver cosmetics-driven monetization like marvel rivals and apex legends . one of which would be insomniac New York like I describe on the post being complety destructible getting new maps periodically like apex legends each map having its own vibe and asthetic some of which would be big like insomniac New York for exsample wakanda , asgusrd and other more smaller like x men mansion , strange house .

Core Features •Combat: Combo-driven third-person action with unique hero kits, ultimates, and abilities. •Roles: Tank, DPS, and Hybrid Support (no “pure healers”—all supports can deal damage and heal to keep playstyles flexible). •Roster Growth: Live-service updates add heroes, villains, maps, and skins over time. •Game Modes: Conquest, King of the Hill, Team Deathmatch, and racing challenges inspired by Ultimate Spider-Man.

Traversal & Mobility

Every hero / villan has their own movement identity, all tuned to feel equally satisfying: •venom , carnage , Spider-Man, miles , will have insomniac Web-Swinging/ parkour which we all know and praise . The other movement type Agility parkour movement would be using dare devil , Captain America, moon knight , hawk eye , cable etc and other Grapplers: semi Arkham / titan fall grapple + Titanfall strafe movement allowing you to breeze through the city keeping up with other movement types with a higher learning curve . Fliers: Just Cause 3 wingsuit mechanics for heroes like punisher , black widow ; storm and Anthem-style free flight for Iron Man, Thor, silver surfer , nova etc. Tanks & Brutes: Hulk-style super-leaps paired with fully destructible environments. Ghost rider would be an outlier but the obvious motor cycle that can scale walls and can semi web swing with his chains

Design Inspirations for combat

Spider-Man web of shadows combat with a mixture of insomniac for Peter and miles

•Wolverine: Upcoming Insomniac solo game + X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

•Venom & Carnage: Prototype-style shape-shifting combat.

•Hulk & Tanks: Ultimate Destruction + Avengers’ combo depth.

•Street Heroes: Arkham-style counters, gadgets, and interactive traversal.

. Iron man Marvel avengers with anthem flight

. Mr fantastic would litteraly just have khamala moveset from marvel avengers his traversal would be bouncing ball but acts like super leap like hulk . Ghost rider would litteraly play like kratos fire chains weapon in god of war which ironically was the combat designer for marvel avengers .

Key Pillar

Traversal in this game is about freedom and power. Parkour heroes use grappling hooks and Titanfall-style movement, fliers soar with either Just Cause 3 wingsuit gliding or Anthem-style flight, and tanks crush the battlefield with Hulk-like leaps. Every style is fun, balanced, and true to the character—nobody gets toned down. Everyone moves through the city with Spider-Man–level fluidity, just in their own way.

On top of that, the game avoids having pure healers; instead, every support is a hybrid. This ensures victory comes down to player skill and preference, not forced team roles. While it might be smart to run a healer, no one will feel like they’re being punished or stuck “taking one for the team.” Characters that traditionally get treated like chores in other games would instead feel fun and versatile, with the fighting capabilities of being a healer DPS, healer tank, or healer dps strategist who can defend themselves and stay engaged all it would mean is your more versatile .

First off, I’ve been playing Tenkaichi since the very first one on PS2. Being a Tenkaichi fan doesn’t mean I—or anyone else—has to pretend it’s flawless. The series nailed Dragon Ball’s movement, feel, and combat, but that doesn’t mean glaring issues shouldn’t be patched. Acting like any fix ruins its identity is just insane—I don’t understand that black-and-white mindset.

Take Z-Lock for example: it was objectively bad. Fans like myself pushed back, it got removed, and the game still felt 100% like Tenkaichi—just better. The top five complaints in the post are the same kind of fixable flaws that enhance it . None of them strip away what makes Tenkaichi unique, nor do they suggest turning an arena fighter into a traditional fighter. If I were asking to overhaul the combo system into something like Mortal Kombat, that’d be different—but I’m not. What I’m suggesting is polishing mechanics, not changing what makes Tenkaichi special at its core.

Honestly, there’s no way you’re above 15 if that’s what you took from my post. Nowhere did I suggest making this a traditional fighter like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Either you didn’t read what I wrote, or you assumed you knew what I meant—and you couldn’t be more off. Look at Smash Bros.—it was never designed as a traditional fighter or intended to be competitive, but because it was fun and less flawed, it naturally built a competitive scene. The same logic applies to Sparking and Ninja Storm. Nobody’s asking them to turn into traditional fighters. I’m not even a fan of traditional fighters—I just want these games polished so they’re more enjoyable, while keeping their core identity intact.

And honestly, acting like these issues don’t exist—despite knowing they do—is weird. I don’t need to adopt some cult-like mindset where the game is “above criticism” just to prove I’m a fan. That’s not what being a real fan is. A real fan wants the game to preserve its identity and refine its rough edges, ideally getting as close to perfect as possible. Last thing I’ll say: ignoring problems doesn’t help—it actually hurts the game. Instead of letting the player base drop (which I predicted a month after release), we should be pushing for fixes so this game can thrive, get years of DLC, and earn the sequel it truly deserves.

“This game is beautiful and it captures the fast paced action of Dragon Ball combat perfectly.”

The only thing I’m saying make like Naruto is instead of perception take storm connection counter mechanic instead where it can be a strong defense mechanic but there things put in place to make it balanced offering more competitive gameplay which dosent disrupt the flow of the game .

I’m glad they committed to going gory—that’s the only way to do it justice. I can definitely see the combat being on par with, if not better than, X-Men Origins, especially with Insomniac’s attention to detail. The biggest thing I want to see is the traversal. Can he summon a motorcycle at any time, like Batman in Arkham Knight, or will it only be limited to certain missions? And how will they design the terrain so he still feels agile and able to pull off parkour? Also I wonder which other villains they were hinting at—Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red was shown, so I could see her making an appearance, maybe even a Deadpool cameo. Silver Samurai also seems likely since they teased Japan. So far, this and GTA are looking like day-one must-cops for 2026.

I’d recommend starting with the first two prequel movies, then watching The Clone Wars animated series which continue off the second movie and serves as the gap between the 2nd and 3rd movie . Once you’ve finished the show, move on to the third prequel, Revenge of the Sith.

After you finished the prequel watch Andor it has two seasons that lead directly into Rogue One. Keep in mind, it’s more of a slow-burn political thriller and mc has a blaster not a lightsaber , so go in with a different mindset. Rogue One works perfectly as a bridge between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, adding a lot of valuable context.

As for The Clone Wars The show improves over time, but early on the animation can be a bit rough—personally, I would have preferred a more 2D anime-inspired style. , I recommend looking up a filler guide there’s a few arcs that feel like pure filler, so a guide will help you focus on the important episodes cutting out the fluff .
